[Review] Doraemon- Stand by me

I have been a HUGE fan (I repeat, a HUGE fan) of Doraemon since I was young. 

I remembered one of my favorite hangout places would be the bookstores, in which I would attempt to persuade my dad to purchase the comic books for me. (Those comic books were considered pretty expensive then - as it's priced at $4.50 per book)

Heck, I was such a fan that I read almost EVERY single existing chapter until I could almost memorize them.

Admittedly, my craze somehow subsided over the years as I got on with my studies. (Of course, I still love Doraemon!)

Little did I imagine that I would get the chance to catch it in the theaters (a.k.a "big screens") years later - and it was like a reunion with my childhood memory.

So you might be interested to know how I felt after watching the movie.

One word - "Awesome"

I LOVED every bit of it, despite the fact that I CRIED like a baby during certain parts of the movie (Mind you, I am usually not those that will shed tears in the cinema)

Although it is not considered a 3D movie with 3D glasses, but I have to say that the dimensional effects will make you go "WOW". If you are a Doraemon fan and have been reading the books, you would find the settings familiar. 

Seriously, the effects were so realistic at times that I had a hard time thinking they are actually not real.

I cried at those parts when Doraemon had to return to the future... It was apparent that he wanted to much to stay by Nobita's side (Both of them have developed a strong bond and friendship) but it was not possible for him to stay anymore.

The last night they spent together was so heartwarming... It was as though I was right there living with them.

Well, even aunties cried while they were watching the movie! (Don'y play play hor)

Kawaii ne!!

(Nobita doesn't really look like his usual 2D self, but it will do!)

And Shizuka is sooo beautiful! It's impossible for you not to go "Awww" when looking into those eyes...

Right.. Go catch it already if you haven't! I rate this movie a 9/10! A deduction of 1 point because it made me cry!!!! Urgh.

Trick Eye Museum ... Disappointment

Life has been pretty much occupied lately - with good companion, food and activities (so much that I am becoming more of an offline than online person... which probably explains the reason why my blog is growing cobwebs!)

Well... Being an offline person isn't entirely a bad idea though. I do think it's healthier in a way.

I've been wanting to visit the highly anticipated Trick Eye Museum (I have seen so many posts on my Facebook and was getting insanely envious of people who managed to make it there during the promotion period). I have been wanting to visit the museum even before it came to Singapore!! It was probably the only reason why I had wished to visit Korea as it was launched there. (But since it's now in Singapore... OF COURSE I was ecstatic!)

Lady Luck wasn't really on my side though. This was what happened when I was there last week with my bff.

Seriously... 360 minutes? That equates to 6 freaking HOURS.

Who in the RIGHT mind would queue up for 6 hours just to enter the museum, especially when it was estimated that it would be near their closing hour after the 6 hours wait?

This is just... Outrageous. (Seriously, I could not find a better adjective to describe the ridiculous timing)

So I asked the staff and was told that the overwhelming response was due to the 50% promotion on their ticket prices and it happened to be the last day of the offer last week. Well.. Singaporeans are just so, so kiasu. *wrinkles nose*

So I sulked and went back, feeling a great sense of disappointment. (It was a lucky thing that admission to Sentosa was free and I did not pay a single cent to enter the area; else I would have lodged a complaint!)

Not sure if I will be visiting the place again since the ticket are back to their original price of $25. 

Anyway, I've heard that there is another museum in Singapore with similar theme - Alive Muesum. I'll be visiting the place sometime this month with my friend - Hopefully it'll be a successful trip this time *growls*

[Media Event] Gala Premiere of The Amazing Spiderman 2 (in 3D!)

Was invited as a blogger to the Gala Premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 3D (Thanks, Sony Pictures Singapore, for the honor!) on 24th April 2014 at Golden Village @ Vivocity. :)

I was given the opportunity to bring along someone as well, so I brought the BF! :) 

Boy, did we go crazy on taking photographs!

Before the start of the Premiere, we were given photo ops as well and there was even a special set-up that we can actually enter and take photos with the realistic props! :)

Here's the overturned police car, an actual scene that you will be able to see in the movie. Did you spot the Spiderman holding onto the vehicle behind me? =P

As part of the event, there was a photo-printing service provided and we were encouraged to strike our most creative poses with the props; after which we could upload them to Instagram to have them printed! I was at a loss of poses and both of us ended up trying to strike our fists at Spiderman =_= "Creative" much. Duh.

But I love it that there was my famous big name printed there "Sgcomplainqueen". HAHAHA. I gave this to my BF as a momento.

 I did a live update on my Facebook as well at the Gala and uploaded this pic of us *chuckles*:

I brought my selfie pod (its trending now!) and we started cam-whoring away since there was still time left. Hahaha.

But of course, selfie pod has its limitations as well as it couldn't capture us in natural poses.

We got someone to take a pic for us too. (Thanks to the person who helped us with the pic!)

And it was soon time for our movie! We didn't actually get the good seats (We were given free seatings) as we spent too much time taking photos before entering the theater. *blames ownself* Hahaha. Nonetheless, I'm glad that we are still able to be seated together and enjoyed the movie!

So... ... what is my verdict of the movie, you ask?

Ssssh... I can't reveal much of the movie else' it is gonna' spoil your experience, no?!

But what I can advise you is to clear your bladders before the movie as you will definitely find yourselves glued to the chair throughout the entire period due to the excitement! YOU CAN'T MISS THOSE BATTLING SCENES. Gosh.

 Yes, I am speaking as someone who has NEVER watched Spider-Man before but yet became quite a fan after the movie. (Heck, I even went back home and tried to search for a Spiderman ringtone!)

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie will be hitting the cinemas in 2D and 3D versions - If you are someone who is a 3D fanatic like me, you know you are not going to miss this experience! :)

(There were certain parts of the movie that I actually BLINKED when the character threw something that appeared to be towards my direction. Haha. It was so funny that I laughed at myself. That is one of the reasons why I am totally digging' 3D movies as they enhanced the movie experience and bringing you closer to realism!)

Whether you are a Spiderman fan or not, this is a movie worth looking forward to if you are thinking of a good one to watch :) I have many friends who told me that they are excited for the movie - and yes, YOU should, too!

Get ready for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on 1st May 2014!

[Preview] Oz The Great And Powerful

Wow... It has been quite some time since I last updated an entry. 

*starts cleaning up the cobwebs around the page*

Yes, so many things - both good and bad- have happened. But one thing I'm certainly glad is that... I have finally recovered from that terrible cough! Yes, it took me one whole freaking month to finally get rid of it. 

ONE WHOLE MONTH OF NOT BEING ABLE TO SING!

Gosh. I am glad I survive it through.

Thanks to all my family and friends who have shown me such great care and concern throughout the period. Although I didn't get to enjoy my Chinese New Year AT ALL, but I am still touched by all the love you guys have showered on me. I can't thank you enough - and you know who you are. :)

I'll slowly catch up on updating my entries and be active on here again - just like how I used to.

Let's start off with a GV movie preview that I recently attended - Oz The Great and Powerful (3D)!

Honestly, I wasn't aware of this movie until Nixeux told me about the exclusive promotion that Golden Village was having. They were actually giving out an Urban Decay goodie bag worth more than $70 + Food and drinks for the movie preview at just a price of $18!

It is so worth it can??!

However, I wasn't really pleased with the welfare of their customers.

Can you imagine how much trouble each and everyone has to go through before we could finally get our butts into the theater? 

We had to go through 3 different security "stages":

1) Surrendering our phones to be kept for "safe-keeping" until the movie is over.

2) To have our belongings thoroughly checked by the securities.

3) To go through the metal detector bar 

Honestly... All these security implementations are RIDICULOUS.

I understand that they are trying to strengthen their security policies to protect the film in its own rights, but have they ever considered how the customers feel?

Firstly, the surrendering of phones are simply uncalled for as it was a 3D movie we were watching, not a freaking 2D one.Are they afraid that we would record the movie secretly and leak them to the world?

Everything about a 3D movie looks blurry once the special 3D spectacles are taken off. Simply put, they can't really work without the spectacles.

Furthermore... ... Do they not know the importance of a phone call? Everyone needs the phone for emergency purposes. By making us surrendering our phones, can they guarantee that there would be no emergencies that require us to have our phones by our side?

Who will be responsible? I doubt they are!

I would have made a big fuss if the movie was bad. (Fortunately, it wasn't)

It actually made up for the infuriating moments.

With all those aside, I seriously love the movie and its 3D effects. I wasn't expecting such great 3D quality, so it was definitely a pleasant surprise. 

The storyline was great - with bad and good witches, too.

It must have taken a great deal of hard work and effort for the production team to come up with such fascinating effects. Everything looked like a fairytale.
It was weird watching the movie - It was like you know everything was fake and yet it looked so real and convincing.
Wow.
Seriously, I wasn't expecting much from this movie (the tickets were fully booked and I managed to get the 2nd row, which I thought was a disaster as my neck would break)
Fortunately, I survived the movie. Say YAY.

Alright, I shall take a break now and let you watch it yourself if you haven't done so.

With the set, I invited Abrial (she loves decorating her nails!) over and we had fun playing with it.

She had chosen blue as her main color for the nails, and decorated her design with a wee bit of the steel balls on it.

There are actually many different ways that you can unleash your creativity with through nail art. From plain boring nails to 3D nails, it's all possible!

Just like us, your nails need pampering too. Beautifying them with nail art is just like dressing up - You can do it in any way you want to.
