[Complaint] Mcdonald's new McFlurry Flavor - Chendol (TOO SWEET AHHH!)

And just weeks ago at the National Day Rally, PM Lee Hsien Loong had addressed the issue on diabetes of how the prevalence of diabetes is rising among the younger generation.

And with the appearance of the McDonald's latest craze - I finally understood what he meant.

Honestly, I am not a fan of sweet stuff - and THIS is totally in contrary to what PM Lee had emphasized on:

Sorry ah, I do not have anything against Mcdonald's. (In fact, I LOVE Mcdonald's and am always on the move to try their new menu items)

Their latest Nasi Lemak burger meal is so freaking awesome. (I believe many of you will agree with me on this, right.. RIGHT?)

Unfortunately, their new Chendol McFlurry is a big no-no for me. 

The first mouthful was great- It was very flavorful and bursting with the taste of Chendol and all, but subsequent mouthfuls almost had me gagging from the sweetness that was on the overboard side.

I wouldn't rate it as the normal type of sweetness - but more of a guarantee diabetes kind of sweetness if one were to have it everyday.

I know Chendol should be sweet and all - but this is just way too much. I did not manage to finish the whole cup as much as I wanted to (Not cheap, leh!).

Don't get me wrong, the McFlurry actually has a great potential - but I just feel it can be better if the sweetness can be reduced to at least 30 - 40 percent.

I am sure there will be a few of you who will not think that it is sweet (if you are one of them, then I guess you must be someone who is too accustomed to sweet/sugary stuff). UHHHH.


Sorry Macdonalds, I love you but I am not going to support the Chendol McFlurry.
I really hope that the sweetness can be further reduced for a healthier option!

A totally RANDOM entry

Okay, I figured that my blog is starting to collect cobwebs after not updating for some time (I really haven't been able to have the luxury to update entries lately), so I shall update a totally random one!

I recently bought a new camera for my blog! *flashes a wide grin*

And it's palm-sized somemore!

Well.. Just kidding.

It's a miniature toy!

(But it looks so realistic that we were both amazed by its details. There is a lens cap, lens and even movable "camera" parts!)

My monk boyfriend got me this during one of those days when we lost our way and unknowingly ended up at Orchard. (Thanks, monk!) =P

It's really cute, right??! HAHAHA.

OMG. Toys just make me mad.
(And yet that sweet bf of mine kept feeding me with toys despite me asking him not to spend so much $$$!) Gaaahhh!!

The Wall of Shame: Money-minded Singaporeans

I can't help it but say...

Some Singaporeans are just TOO money-minded for words.

For example?

I am sure many of you will find this familiar. No?

As seen on STOMP:

Yes. People were spotted queuing up for the ever so cute Hello Kitty Fairytale Collection.

But have you ever wondered how many of them in the queue were actually GENUINE buyers?

Let's put it this way:

70% (Money-minded people who are pinning hopes on earning quick bucks by reselling those soft toys at a price that's equivalent to daylight robbery) + 20% (Guys who were queuing up to get them for their girlfriends) + 10% (Actual genuine buyers) = 100%.

How appalling that was to witness people carrying 7-8 Hello Kitties in their hands, and happily going home to announce online that they are putting them up for sale at $50, $70, etc.

Is that the way how things work? 

And I can't believe that there ARE actually genuine buyers who went ahead to do the shameless transaction with them. Don't you know that you are just encouraging more gold diggers this way?

Think of it in a logical way - Do you really think that this craze will last? 

Unless you feel you are rich enough, I don't see the reason why anyone will be paying such a high price for something that will drop in value very soon.

Don't be surprised that these soft toys will be seen being sold at $5 or even lower in time to come.

And of course, not only the Hello Kitty frenzy is causing me to think that Singaporeans are money-minded.

I am sure everyone is aware of the haze that has been lingering around in Singapore, and stories such as how the N95 masks were gone as soon as they hit the shelves weren't surprising.

But what the HECK is this?

Ridiculous much?!

Pathetic I know, but this is how reality works.

Even in such a crucial situation, the only thing that is weighing on those people's minds is nothing but money, money and more MONEY.

Apparently, according to them, health is nothing as compared to money.

Right?

Yes, people will still buy despite being aware of the fact that this is a complete rip-off.

But that is only because they HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE.

With N95 masks being sold out everywhere, they have already grown desperate. 

And those money scalpers are taking advantage of their despo-ness to earn quick bucks.

Can you imagine how unethical that is?!

Those were people who genuinely need them, probably because they may have elderly and kids in their family that they have to take care of, and ensuring that they have the maximum protection against the haze.

Health is something that no amount of money can buy, and yet some people just don't see the point. 

Anyway, my dad has gotten back some N95 masks.. and I am intending to give them away to needy families. (Yes, I am aware that the CC is giving 4 masks to the needy already).. But if you still do know of anyone who weren't aware or couldn't make it to collect theirs, do feel free to refer them to me and I'll be more than happy to bring those masks down personally.

Of course, with NO monetary terms involved.

[Omy.sg Bloggers' Event] A heartwarming dinner @ Mcdonald's Singapore!

It is always believed that Chinese New Year is a festive season of joy that all of us will celebrate with our families and friends.

 BUT I've found a greater joy this year by being a part of Mcdonalds Singapore's event in coming together and celebrating the occasion with the less fortunate, bringing smiles to their faces. Honestly, it's one of the MOST meaningful events I've ever attended, and I truly enjoyed myself during the session.

It is one gathering I won't forget- The gathering of warmth and love.

When I first received the invitation from Omy.sg and realized it was going to be an event with underprivileged seniors, I took up the opportunity immediately. Nothing beats having the chance to brighten someone's day, especially to the less fortunate.

As exaggerating as it sounds, I actually counted down and looked forward to it!

The venue is located at Ridout Tea Garden, where Mcdonald's is. Although I have never been there before, but I fell in love with the surroundings immediately. The whole place was filled with such serenity!

And guess who was there as well?
Yes, it's Ronald Mcdonald! *smiles* I have never thought that I would meet him for real, but there he is - welcoming the line of seniors upon their arrival. I MUST say that Ronald is one of the coolest people I've ever seen. He's always smiling and taking such great care of the seniors throughout the evening. *salutes* He's the definition of a good role model, absolutely. Not to mention that he's very professional, too. (He knows how to converse in English, mandarin and even dialects!)

Look at the beauty of this image! (No, I obviously do not mean my photo-taking skills, but the beauty in this photograph itself. I love how Ronald was holding on to each of the seniors as they came up the stairs, ensuring their safety. It really means alot. )

Let's start the ball rolling!

While waiting for the food to be served, Ronald personally went around different tables to entertain the seniors, engaging in small chats with them. I love the fact how everyone was interacting like old friends, smiling and laughing with one another. I don't know why, but it gave me a good tingling sensation. :)

Of course, other than Ronald, a few other Mcdonald's staff were helping out as well, providing FIRST CLASS service to each and everyone present. And when I said "First Class", I ain't kidding!
All of them took excellent care of the seniors, making sure that they are comfortable. It's a pity I didn't get the lady's name (photo below), but she is definitely one of the most commendable staff I've ever seen!  I took this shot of her when she was helping one of the seniors in stirring her cup of tea. She would often drop by different tables, too, to check out what was needed.

   Here's a random shot of one of Mcdonald's helpers. I smiled when I saw his shirt. 

  Each and every helper showed a great deal of commitment and dedication in serving the seniors to their best ability.

                         

      And here, we have the honor to meet with Mcdonalds Managing director, Judy Harman. 

 Now, now. One of our dear bloggers has a new-found fan! We cracked up laughing as this uncle seemed to like her - ALOT.

Okay, I shall have my share in taking a photo as well - with my new idol , Ronald! :) He sure is a very jolly fellow. Laughter and smiles always ensue with him around. And not to mention that he must be one of the most friendlist clowns in the world. :)

I can tell that everyone enjoyed their meal. Look at that - They are lovin' Mcdonalds! :)

This particular Mcdonald staff is truly an inspiration. Being a senior citizen herself, she is still constantly showing care and concern to those who need it more. (From what I've heard, she is 73 years old and has been working in Mcdonalds for around 18 years!) She was somehow the "main host" for the event.

 A random photo I took when Ronald and this senior was having a funny conversation. She was commenting on Ronald's large shoes and comparing them to hers.  Everyone around her cracked up as we witnessed this hilarious scene.

As much as we hated to say goodbye, the seniors had to retire for the night. Again, the staff showed their utmost respect as they stood in a row and bid them goodbye with a smile.

Honestly, seeing those seniors going expressing how happy they were that night made everything worthwhile.

Together with a few of the staff of Omy.sg and Mcdonalds' crew, we bloggers took a group photo too!

 After the seniors left, we settled down and had our dinner. It was very gracious and kind of Mcdonalds for the treat! Thank you~

As appreciation, Mcdonalds gave each of us oranges and red packets too! They are really lovely.

Thank you, Mcdonalds' Singapore and Omy.sg, for inviting us to such a rewarding experience with the seniors on 19th January 2012.  You are certainly an inspiration and touched the hearts of many! I love the fact how Mcdonalds' is so active in doing charities to help the less fortunate. I will always look forward to more, and I hope that I will be able to join in such events again in near future!

To be able to help and bring happiness to others is a blessing. That shall be my mission in life, too. :)
