RFJam Media Event cum Review of Pioneer Headphones

Was invited down to RFJam media event - A dance battle between different dancers.. and as promised, I finally had the opportunity to review some awesome headphones from Pioneer during its Designer Collab Launch as well! 

Well, who says there are no local talents in Singapore?

I hate to admit that I was not able to capture as many photos as I had hoped to due to the overwhelming crowd... Nonetheless, here are a few that I managed to capture after much squeezing through!

Of course, different teams had their fair share of supporters!

There were small booths with Pioneer headphones - and an Instagram contest as well in which we could participate and win instant prizes at the end of the session! 

I was actually quite kiasu and did it by spamming a few photos of myself posing with the headphones.

I specifically like the color of this headphone - SE-MX9-T! It's not really striking; but yet there's an air of elegance about it. Not to mention that it can look good on either males or females as well!

Sound quality? Although I am no expert, but I have to say I am really impressed by the clear sound quality that it produces. It does make the music sound more "superior" as advertised. Annddd.... It's retailing at $399!

Aiya, you have to try it yourself to believe.

This is another model - SE-MX9-S

Its sound quality is quite close to the previous - but the color of this particular model isn't my cup of tea though. 

This is more of a striking color - bright orange.  I am sure any hipster will totally rock this. (Just that the white color part might be dirtied easily though)

I am surprised out well the bass was enhanced through the headphone... It was as though I was in a studio! Unfortunately, I was not able to enjoy a 100% percent of its sound quality due to the fact that the venue was too noisy :(

Spotted this beauty inside a display case! It's enhanced with fake jewels - and the headphone looks sophisticated! 

I was actually multi-tasking in the midst of testing the headphones! Haha.

There were 2 dancers battling against each other while 3 judges watched from onstage. They would give their verdict at the end of the battle!

I was actually situated at a position faraway from the stage, but I was glad my camera managed to zoom in to its potential! :p

And guess what? They even had their own tees, caps , etc for sale! :)

Kiyomi/Gwiyomi = It's SERIOUSLY getting on my nerves!

Oh Gosh, I can't even begin to tell you how MUCH, how MUCH, how MUCH I detest this recent Kiyomi/Gwiyomi (or whatever you call it) trend.

I have friends who knew I hated this so much and they asked me whether I am going to do a blog post about it.

YES, for SURE I am!

Come on, it is NOT even a proper dance! What the HECK is that, seriously?

I have nothing against girls, but those movements just get on my freaking nerves.

Like PLEASE, I can still understand if it's some Gangnam style or any other dance.. But THIS?!

Ok, I admit the song IS cute and I could still tolerate until the chorus part.
But once that dance sequence starts, I feel like pulling my hair and screaming at the computer screen.

*blood pressure rises*

And damn it, my evil colleagues (You know who you are) were having so much fun doing those disgusting actions in front of my face.

I swore I almost took off my shoe and threw it right at their faces.

Seriously, it really beats me WHY and HOW it can become a hot sensation within such a short period of time.

Come on, girls. YOU DON'T LOOK CUTE! (More like retards doing hand signs)

And guys. YOU DON'T LOOK AWESOME AT ALL, too. You look like gays!

You know which part gets on my nerves the MOST?
It's those "kiss fingers" movement.

Go order yourself some KFC if you are really craving so much for it. Duh.
Ah, whatever, whatever.
I believe the popularity will probably die down very soon.
And I do fear what is the next upcoming "trend".
It seems that the world is getting so desperate for trends recently that even such a nonsensical Kiyomi hand movement can become such a sensation.
Trust me, DON'T do any of those kiyomi movements in front of me.

I'll scream right into your face like Ju-On and #*($&(#$ you upside down.

Harlem Shake

Wow, people have been raving so much about the Harlem Shake.

Gosh, what is this world turning into?

Initially, I thought Harlem Shake is a new milkshake in town. 

I didn't know it is supposed to be a new-dance-in-town-after-gangnam-style.

I found a few videos, take a look for yourself!

Some people apparently think its cool... But I am sure there will be others who feel that those dancers look like a bunch of retards waving their arms and feet in the air.
BUT NO, I do not think that it will be as popular as Gangnam Style (even though I am not a fan of Gangnam style as well).
Its such a weird dance.. (It isn't even considered a dance. Only random clowning around in the video)
Like DUH.

Ok anyway, I have been blogging lesser lately. NO, I am not quitting blogging.
But somehow I am still sick after a few weeks T_T
Been to the doctor twice and the medicine didn't have any effect on me.
Am undergoing self-medication right now. Hopefully I will be well enough to be as active as before soon.

SKARF - Singapore girls to the scene

Okay, you K-POP fans out there might have heard of this new girl group who has recently made their debut in August.

 They are none other than SKARF - The first group that ever consisted and combined of 2 Singaporeans and 2 Koreans.

Do your own google search to find out why they are called SKARF. 

I am not paid to publicize for them anyway.

So...Since they are VERY new to the scene, their company has been rapidly attempting to generate hype.

Okay, here's a fact. I am not a K-pop addict to begin with. (In fact, I have 0 interest in the Korean industry and have always felt they are overrated in some sense.)

Of course, there are people who love it too and I am not going to disrespect that.

Honestly, I would like to support SKARF since there are 2 girls out there representing Singapore in the Korean pop industry... But I am having difficulty in doing so because those 2 locals don't portray a positive image to me.

Seriously, what's up with the "I'm-trained-in-Korea-so-I-no-longer-feel-like-a-Singaporean" attitude?

(No offence, it's just the vibe I felt after watching the videos. )

I understand that their company, Alpha Entertainment, had released episodes of the girls touring different places in Singapore, such as Bugis Street, etc.

And goodness gracious, who exactly are their target audience?

Do they expect all Singaporeans to understand the Korean language or what?! 

(AT LEAST BE CONSIDERATE AND INSERT SOME ENGLISH SUBTITLES, LAH. It's not like there are only KOREANS watching the video!)

Please don't misunderstand me - I am not trying to generate hate against our local girls or anything like that. In fact, it is an honor to know of Singaporeans who are able to make this kind of break through.

BUT PLEASE - Never forget your roots, for goodness sake.

From the way they portray themselves in the videos, it seems that they have successfully "converted" themselves into some typical Koreans by acting as though it was their first time in Singapore =_=".

What irked me most was the durian part - with the yellow-colored-hair Ferlyn flipping out and whining how smelly the durian is.

Once or twice is alright, but your attempt at emphasizing is too much.

I know that there are many Singaporeans out there who hate durians as much as she does, but is this reaction a necessity?

You can't deny the fact that there are probably a majority out there who love durians.

AND it is classified as one of the more popular and iconic fruits of Singapore.

As a Singaporean yourself, you can choose not to like it if it's not your preference, BUT you can't make it seem like the fruit is FOREIGN to you.

After a colleague of mine watched the video too, she commented,

"Singaporeans emphasizing so much on hating Durians is just like Koreans telling you they HATE kimchis"

See what she meant?

If you haven't noticed, Tasha, the leader of the group, had asked a question in the video with a Singaporean accent (Ok, at least she still sounds Singaporean there), while coming across this durian stall at Bugis:

"Is this the most popular here?"

LIKE COME ON... ANY Singaporean would know that DURIANS are POPULAR in Singapore. Do you even have to ask that, or are you just trying to give people the impression that you are not a local?

Being trained in Korea for probably 1 or 2 years doesn't make you a KOREAN.

What are you trying to prove?

If this new group is seeking to garner support from Singaporeans, I hope they can be humble and stop trying to come across as some Korean freaks who treat Singapore like a foreign country.
I believe those 2 girls had heard of Bugis before during their life in Singapore.

And it's disappointing that I do not feel like they are setting good examples in knowing their own country well. They could've at least introduced some of the stuff to their Korean mates instead of acting like they are foreigners themselves in their own country.

If that is indeed their intention (meaning forgetting their Singapore roots), then it'll be a huge joke if they expect themselves to go far.

(Oh wait- If they are reading this entry.. I am sure they will go into full denial mode and say "When did I ever feel this way?!"

YES, you may NOT feel this way BUT this is the kind of feeling you PORTRAY and GAVE your audience in those videos.)

On a side note, I really wonder why their hairstylist gave Ferlyn that kind of hair color. It makes her look like some Singapore Ah-lian.

Don't get me wrong here, I do not HATE the group. I am just speaking out my honest thoughts, so please respect my opinions like what I will to yours, too.'

Regardless of what I feel about them, I think their debut song is not bad though. At least the melody is the kind that I like:
