Its so Un..Un...Un..Un..Un..Unbelievable!

Seriously, this "Unbelievable" song is the rage on social media recently! 

I believe this song is of no stranger to your ears now: -

Honestly, I did not know why it was so highly raved when I first listened to it. It was not until I discovered that the song melody STUCK to my head like a glue and it wouldn't stop looping the words "Un..Un..Un..Un..Un...Unbelievable..." Oh man, its hella' annoying but hilarious in a way. I am impressed how the MV was done in the olden style, and even more amazed at how the producers managed to combine such "typical" Hokkien music with English lyrics. Not to mention that the blue Karaoke-style wordings take the cake, too. My mum watched the MV and she was pleasantly amused how a veteran actor like Chen Tian Wen is able to pull it off and became an instant internet sensation overnight. OVERNIGHT! The powers of social media, indeed. (And I am sure those producers did not see that coming. Haha) As if this isn't exaggerating enough, he was featured on Taiwan and U.S news, too. I'm so stunned. Like a vegetable. #ifyougetwhatimean

And you won't believe how many covers have emerged since then - and they all sound UNBELIEVABLE.

"I don't feel proud to be a Singaporean" - Stephanie Koh/Steph Micayle

So I came across this piece of "I-don't-feel-proud-to-be-a-Singaporean" news on STOMP, which made its headlines shortly after the interview video was released.

Initially, all I saw was this screenshot of a sweet-looking girl. (At this stage, I was only judging a book by its cover. "Hmm," I thought to myself. "Not bad-looking".)

But gosh, I had the horror of my lifetime when I was watching the video. I don't know exactly how to put it, but she doesn't really give off a very good vibe the moment she began talking.

The "I-don't-give-a-damn-to-what-you-think" attitude was SO NOT APPEALING AT ALL. (I am not criticizing her for the sake of criticizing - If you have watched the Kpop Star Hunt 3 episodes, you'll see what I mean.)

The episodes are still ongoing.

Anyway, back to her razorTV interview - She dropped the big bomb when she claimed that she doesn't feel proud to be a Singaporean.. and went on to rant on how Singaporeans lack creativity, etc.

Needless to say, the recorded interview offended many who have watched it. 

I was trying so hard to remain neutral - but boy, was it hard. 

In case you still have no idea who she is (but I am sure most people do by now), her name is Stephanie Koh, or more widely known as Steph Micayle. 

Perhaps this video of her might ring a bell - as her acoustic version of "Gangnam Style" went viral previously.

No doubt I do think she is talented. In fact, VERY. I love the way she sings; and I do agree that the future seems to be bright ahead for this young girl.

BUT... As bad as it sounds, I have to say that her attitude SUCKS BIG time. You can't deny it from the way she talks - it was like she's some high-and-mighty princess who doesn't care less of what others think. No, don't get me wrong, I am not talking about the content of her video yet. Let's just focus on her portrayed personality first.

Somehow, her accent is quite off-putting. Seriously, in what way does she sound like a Singaporean? Oh wait- she doesn't appreciate being one anyway. *laughs*

Oh well, it's obvious how she is trying to be a man-made ang moh - with a name such as "Steph Micayle" and having a thick fake accent that I have no idea which country of accent she is trying to make people think she is from. 

Not sure if anyone notices that she tilts her head alot when she talks (and even rolling her eyes at some point).. It reminds me so much of an arrogant bi*ch that everyone hates at high school. Is that some kind of over-confidence symptom? *grits teeth*

Since then, she has made another video to elaborate on her points WHY she isn't proud to be a Singaporean:

Yaddah-Yaddah.. and she has this sudden growth of fans after posting this - Many seem to be supporting her viewpoint since she indeed did make a few valid points about "majority" of the Singaporeans.

Yes, no doubt that she managed to speak the hearts of our people out there - but come on, WHERE ARE THE GOOD POINTS ABOUT SINGAPORE? All you can ramble on is just the education system, and how narrow-minded and pathetic you have made Singaporeans sound to be.

Freedom of speech is your thing, huh?

As much as she dislikes Singapore, nobody appreciates her presence here as well - Why do we need someone here who feels ashamed to represent us when it comes to international competitions? 

You can disagree with the lifestyle here (nobody gives a damn), but does that really deter you from taking pride in being a Singaporean?

Personally, I feel that Singapore should be a place for people who appreciate being here. Yes, you may think negatively of Singapore, but never forget that there are pros and cons to everything. 

It's not easy that Singapore is being shaped to what it is like now - and looking back, we sure have came a long way. 

I apologize for my spur of anger - Everyone knows I am a proud Singaporean and that one-liner "I don't feel proud to be a Singaporean" kinda' got on my nerves.

Conclusion:

Stephanie Koh/Steph Micayle, I dislike you.

Get a life (Not in Singapore, please)

Okay, so there are many of you out there who have begged to differ regarding my previous post on Steph Micayle/Stephanie Koh.

Yes, no doubt that she has gained alot more supporters after she posted her rebuttal video, in which a hell lot of Singaporeans have wrote of how she managed to "speak their hearts", how "spot on" her points were, etc etc.
Granted that she was able to voice out what you may not have been able to, but I was not targeting my blog entry on the content of her video.

I was more towards her personality or character as an individual, which I think it pretty sucks.

She throws her tantrum when thing don't really go the way she wants; and doesn't seem to be able to accept opinions from others in a graceful manner.

In situations when she felt that she has a point, she would speak up fiercely for herself and doesn't give a damn about what others feel.

Such arrogance and selfishness... I am glad she didn't win the title of Champion in the Kpop Star Hunt.

Music - An Universal Langauge

One thing I love about life is the existence of MUSIC.

 (Music lovers, can you feel me?)

Granted that I may not be a super duper hardcore fan of music as you; but I still do enjoy listening and stretching my vocal chords to sing my songs of desire. (LOL)

In fact, one of my greatest dreams in life WAS (note: past tense) to be a singer. Not that I am no longer having this dream now, but I just have no time to pursue it any longer. 

Nonetheless, that doesn't stop me from supporting other local (note: SINGAPORE) potential singers who are living this dream.

I was pleasantly surprised when I received an e-mail from Shan, a potential local singer who has formed his own band (ANON) and recently composed a new single. 

(And no, there is no conspiracy about the band's name here. I am not referring to THAT Anon.. If you know what I mean.)

He has specially requested me to do a review on the songs; and I thought would do it (despite the fact that I am no professional in this area) - and here it is - my humble review from the perspective of a music lover. It is actually the first time that I received such an unique review request, so I would like to thank Shan for the opportunity as well! :)

While the songs are both in Tamil, I don't think it is an affecting factor as music is universal.
As an additional bonus, the band even spent time on translating the lyrics to English! :) Just click on the captions bar when you load the video.

Now that's one thing amazing about music. Language is not a barrier; and what you need is just a soul to feel it!

My review:
Honestly, the front part of the melody surprised me - in a good way. It is soothing and I took an immediate liking to it.
Well, this song is actually a duet depicting the love between a boy and girl.
Seriously, if I can speak Tamil, this is a song I will definitely want to learn!

Critique:  I felt that the audio quality can be better though. The vocal parts sounded "grainy" against the music, especially when it hits the chorus. When it comes to the second part of the song on the female part, the music seems to be louder than her vocals.


#2: Va Va Penne

This is a very upbeat and fast song; and is actually quite catchy! I am sure that this is an ideal song to sing if a guy is chasing after a girl. (Haha)
Unlike the previous song, it is less emotional.
This makes you feel like getting on your feet and dance! I was actually imagining a dance while playing the song.

General view: What I like about Anon's music is that DESPITE the songs being sung in Tamil, I actually love the melody and beat. I was surprised that my brain is able to play out the melody by itself even after the song has stopped. Hahaha. Their music has a catchy element in it; and that is what I think of as a quality song.

So.. Go on, tell me - which is your favorite?!
I would prefer Kanavil Ninaivil more - it gives me a nice sensation while listening at night!

The Most Disgusting Blog Post Ever

I remember coming across expired unopened bottles of Coke/Pepsi (you know, those really vintage-looking kind) that were being sold off as collectibles. In other words, they are meant to be for display purposes and  NOT in any condition for human consumption.

But I did wonder if anyone would be really crazy enough to open them up to have a taste.
Apparently, there are all kinds of humans in this world.
Watch for yourself how this guy managed to do it...(Yes, he drank a 20-year old bottle of Crystal Pepsi) And puked his lungs out. LOL.

I really wonder what was or were going through these people's minds while drinking it.
For the sake of Youtube video views, they really stooped to such an extreme extent. *shakes head*

Love or Hate? ABTM's star admitted to violence on his Girlfriend

So I came across this piece of (not so) juicy news on Yahoo and STOMP:

‘Ah Boys to Men’ star Ridhwan Azman admits to hitting girlfriend online

Basically, this guy - more widely known as one of the Ah Boys to Men (ABTM) stars, (I believe those who watched the movie would have recognized him) hit and 'strangled' his girlfriend - according to what she had proclaimed on her blog.

Crushed, she confided in two of her trusted confidants-complete with photo evidences of what appeared to be her bruised face- and that was when the matter caught the media's attention after it went viral on social media sites such as Twitter, etc.

Both were eventually depressed, and the guy admitted to his act.

When I first read the news, I was like...SERIOUSLY???!!

I know many Netizens out there are criticizing them and saying things like they are not famous enough to deserve such limelight, etc...

But you can't deny the fact that the guy, Ridhwan Azman, has gained a certain extent of fame after his appearances in the Jack Neo's movie.

And it's inevitable that such matters will not be taken lightly - especially when it comes to guys beating up their own girlfriends.

(Do you even think this is acceptable? Violence in a relationship?)

I understand that there are always two sides to the story, and many have said it was the girl's fault as well since she was the one who "triggered" the fight first, etc.

However, I still can't get over the fact that a guy can just hit his girlfriend like that. 

According to his girlfriend, he even dragged her out of a cab "like an animal" during the commotion. Although no one can testify that since none of us have seen it with our own eyes, BUT if that was true....

Then seriously, I would say it's a... Beastly act.

Firstly, she is ONLY your girlfriend. Not even your wife. 

(And even if so, that doesn't entitle you to hitting her)

If violence has already been introduced at such an initial stage, I can't imagine how the marriage will look like 10 - 20 years down the road. Probably weapons would be introduced? LOL.

Secondly, if you are a REAL (I mean, as in really skin deeeep) GENTLEMAN, hitting her definitely would not have crossed your mind - no matter what. It's simply... unacceptable.

You are responsible for your own action(s). The fact that you even laid a finger on her and hurting her that much physically just shows how much of a "gentleman" you are.

Yes, I understand there are many girls out there who behave in such a manner that you may feel like hitting them in that instance, but I believe that such thoughts are within your control.

Talk about ethics.

(Unless the girl is a potential threat to your life and is charging at you with a knife, then that will be another story altogether if you hit her for self-defense purposes. Lol.)

Thirdly, you are considered a public figure. Is it even a rational thing to behave like... that?

It's not easy to be able to climb the ladder of fame in Singapore. And you are not even really THERE yet...As compared to bigshot celebrities, you are only a small fry. Sorry but it's just the harsh truth. You may have your fair share of "fans", but that's just it. ABTM is only giving you 60 seconds of fame.

Yes, you fell and now you have to clean your own mess. There are bound to have your supporters disappointed in you because of your unethical act. 

I will not touch on racial issues since I am not someone who likes to get involved in such topics. Personally, I find that it is alright for people of different races to be together in a relationship - as long as you understand each other's culture and give your respect.

It does make me think deeper about guys and relationships after this incident shed light onto social media. It's really scary and disappointing at the same time how a what seemed to be a happy relationship turned out to be like this.

You can say you love her countless times, but do you... Really??

On a side note, I found one of the girlfriend's Youtube videos online... Although I am not exactly sure whether it can be considered in the name of fun... But you can clearly see that Ridhwan seemed to be hitting her in order to make her cry for a scene. She was heard saying "Stop hitting me" in the video and tears followed suit.

I understand if she was just sacrificing for the video, but... ....

Harlem Shake

Wow, people have been raving so much about the Harlem Shake.

Gosh, what is this world turning into?

Initially, I thought Harlem Shake is a new milkshake in town. 

I didn't know it is supposed to be a new-dance-in-town-after-gangnam-style.

I found a few videos, take a look for yourself!

Some people apparently think its cool... But I am sure there will be others who feel that those dancers look like a bunch of retards waving their arms and feet in the air.
BUT NO, I do not think that it will be as popular as Gangnam Style (even though I am not a fan of Gangnam style as well).
Its such a weird dance.. (It isn't even considered a dance. Only random clowning around in the video)
Like DUH.

Ok anyway, I have been blogging lesser lately. NO, I am not quitting blogging.
But somehow I am still sick after a few weeks T_T
Been to the doctor twice and the medicine didn't have any effect on me.
Am undergoing self-medication right now. Hopefully I will be well enough to be as active as before soon.

It's Just So Freaking Disgusting

Have you ever came across disgusting videos, attempted not to watch them and ENDED UP watching them eventually? (Hey, don't deny it - I am sure you did!)

So I believe I am not the only one with a warped mind.

If you think your stomach can handle these shit, go ahead and click on the videos: (Don't say I didn't warn you) You are watching them at your own risk. They are so disgusting to the extent that you will lose your appetite for the whole day.

(I'm wondering if this guy is even human. He can eat literally ANYTHING in the world. And he is accepting new ideas! Maybe I shall write in and have him try some human faeces.)

Time Traveller

There was something interesting I found online when I was doing some random rounds in Youtube:

Well, as much as I don't... I can't help but be amazed at the similarities of the photographs in the video. This guy, Vonhelton, is obviously quite a well-known chap in Youtube when it comes to topics about time traveling. He has a video channel as well. You may wish to search him up if curiosity is killing you.

Another famous video that has been making its rounds in Youtube is a short snippet from an old Charlie Chaplin movie: (It's a video about how an woman was seen using a cellphone even before it was invented during the time of this film! Interesting, huh? Watch closely and see for yourself. The video eventually got so popular that it was on the news!)
