[Results Announced] NDP Preview Tickets Giveaway

When I hosted the giveaway for my NDP Preview Tickets, I did not expect that the response will be overwhelming.

I have read every single e-mail from you guys (Thanks to a few of you who even went the extra mile to send me photos that showcase your Singaporean pride!)

Trust me, it was NOT easy for me at all as I felt EVERY single one of you deserve the tickets. So much that I started questioning myself "WHY CAN'T I HAVE MORE TICKETS TO GIVEAWAY?!"

After all, I only have one pair and I could only select one winner out of the lot.
After filtering the entries (Some entries are unfortunately disqualified), I decided to leave the fate to a lucky wheel.

I had NO idea who would be the winner (No kelong here - I just wanted it to be a fair and square system) so I kept my fingers crossed and started spinning... ...

I wanted to be transparent in how the winner was picked - so here you go, I've used http://wheeldecide.com/

(Only names with valid entries will be accepted. I am sorry to some who took the effort to send in but   due to the fact that they were incomplete entries, I could not place them on the wheel to be fair to the other participants)

Congratulations, Muhammad Sufri!

I've read your entry I sincerely hope both you and your mum will enjoy the show!

It sucks to know that many of you will be disappointed - but please do not be because I may still be hosting more giveaways in time to come.
Yes, that may even include next year's NDP tickets when the time comes - So do stay tuned!

A BIG THANK YOU to each and every one of you for taking time in participating my giveaway. It makes me happy knowing that so many of you are proud Singaporeans.

But I can't help feeling sad to know that some of you are even contemplating to purchase tickets from 'gold diggers' just to catch the show. Please DO NOT ever encourage such sellers - The tickets may worth some money, but it is meaningless if you purchase them.
Everyone deserves the chance at ZERO cost - Why put a price to your national pride?

I hope more of you guys will be able to ballot successfully in the upcoming years ahead. Else, there will always be many other giveaways around as well.

Don't give up!

(And don't give up on reading my blog lah... I will be hosting other giveaways for you guys!)

Love you all! Xoxo.

[Giveaway Time] Excuse me, are you selling your NDP tickets?

So I posted about my NDP tickets some time back - requesting for a swap with anyone (for other dates) as I could not make it down for Preview 1.

Within a day, my inbox was bombarded.
Not from people who wanted to swap with me, but from many who were requesting me to SELL my tickets to them.
Some were even blunt enough to ask me to give them the tickets - in a rude manner.
(Like hello??! I don't even know you and what makes you think I am OBLIGATED to give them to you?)

I was infuriated. Like seriously.

Yes, I know how I could make a quick buck out of the sale of the tickets. I mean, I got them for free and now there are people offering me huge amount of money for them.
I must be stupid enough to reject the opportunity, right?

AND YES - SO BE IT. I AM REJECTING YOU ALL.
EVEN IF I AM IN NEED OF MONEY AND POOR AF.

Firstly, it is MORALLY wrong for me to sell the tickets. (For those gold diggers who are selling them, shame on you!)

I have been balloting for years myself and I totally understand the feeling of not being able to get them year after year.
Like myself, there are MANY people out there who are sincerely hoping to get a successful ballot so that we can all experience the live atmosphere for once at the NDP.
Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to get a successful ballot and it is heartbreaking when gold diggers are the ones who got them.

To you, it may be a money opportunity but to others, it may be a once-in-a-lifetime chance that they have been wishing for.

It is saddening that some Singaporeans fail to see the intention behind NDP.
I mean, you got them for free in the first place AND in any case that you are unable to attend, I am sure there will be someone that you can give them away to.

It's a pity that the system is not able to differentiate sincere Singaporeans from gold diggers.
Although it is something beyond my control, I thought I could do a little something for you guys who  are sincerely hoping to get the tickets...

YES, I WILL BE GIVING THEM AWAY TO ONE LUCKY READER.
**Please note that they are tickets to Preview 1 on 22 July 2017, Saturday.

(I am sorry that I have only got 2 on hand at the moment)

And what you guys have to do is to:-

1) LET ME KNOW WHY YOU WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND THE SHOW. IN YOUR E-MAIL, PLEASE STATE YOUR NAME AND CONTACT NUMBER.
(You can send me an e-mail at: catherinejaevans@hotmail.com

2) SHARE THIS BLOGPOST ON YOUR FACEBOOK AND TAG A FRIEND WHOM YOU WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND WITH. (Please do set your settings to Public so I will be able to see) HASHTAG: #SGCOMPLAINQUEEN
(You can indicate in your e-mail and provide me your Facebook name)

NO, PLEASE DO NOT E-MAIL ME TO ASK ME TO SELL THEM. YOU CAN'T CONVINCE ME.

Deadline: 18 July 2017
(Results will be announced by 18 July 2017 evening)

I will be meeting my lucky reader to pass the tickets personally to on 21 July 2017.

Thank you, all! :)

NDP Ticket Contest Giveaway Results

A big Thank You to each and every one of you lovely people who participated in my recent NDP Ticket Giveaway contest!
Responses have been overwhelming, and I really enjoyed reading the entries that were submitted - Some of you have sent in amazing write-ups that were attached with photographs that were simply heartwarming.
Trust me, I hate the fact that I only have a pair of tickets to giveaway because I feel that everyone of you deserve to enjoy the NDP Parade!

I know how frustrating it is not to be able to attain tickets every year - and the fact that my NDP tickets can change a person's lifetime experience makes it all the more pressurizing. I wish I have the power to have many pairs of NDP tickets in my hands!

As much as I hate to end this Giveaway, a winner will eventually have to be selected - and I decided to play fair by using a Random Generator (Due to too many deserving responses and I just couldn't choose by myself)

The best entries were filtered and selected by me (I have selected 7 best entries out of the lot since 7 is known to be a lucky number) and a random generator was used to pick the number that would eventually be my lucky winner.

The reason of being fair is due to the fact that I have personal friends who participated as well - and I have promised that no biasm will be involved in this contest. Everyone stands a fair chance. (I am really sorry to all my friends who participated but wasn't selected by the generator :( )

(A number has been allocated beside your name when you sent in the e-mail. I'll be using the number to find out the name of the winner once the Random Generator has given its result).

GIVEAWAY: 1 PAIR OF ACTUAL DAY NDP TICKETS!

I understand how difficult NDP tickets balloting can be, and the frustration that is felt every year when we didn't hear back from the successful balloting results.
Honestly, I did not pin much hope in having the opportunity to see the parade this year (even though I so BADLY wanted to see it)

But... But....

As part of being one of this year's funpack designers, the NDP Committee has kindly given me NDP tickets to the actual show!
(Thank You!)

My two NDP bag designs! Did you manage to get either of them?!

I know how many people have wanted tickets but yet couldn't get hold of one...So here's a real treat for you.

I AM GOING TO GIVE AWAY 1 PAIR OF ACTUAL DAY NDP TICKETS TO MY LUCKY READER!
(See... Being my reader has its perks!!)

Pardon the low quality of my pictures because my camera (that I use for blogging purposes) is spoilt!!! Urgh. Time for a new camera soon.

I have requests asking me to sell my tickets, but NO- I am NEVER supportive of selling them.
Even if you were to quote me a thousand or million dollars for them, I am NOT going to sell them to you. So don't even ask.
I feel that they deserve to be in the hands of someone who appreciates the celebration of Singapore's big day as much as I do!

My giveaways are always simple; and all you have to do is to:

1) Tell me WHY you deserve the NDP tickets (No limitation of words..)

2) Share my blog post on your Facebook page (Please set your privacy setting for the shared post to PUBLIC so I will be able to see it)

3) Furnish me with your details (Name, Contact Number and Facebook Profile URL)

Send them to:

The lucky winner will be notified on 5th August 2015 and I'll contact you for the collection of the NDP tickets!

I'll be looking forward to seeing your entries!!! :)
I would love my reader to enjoy the SG50 NDP Celebration with me!

[Event] Doors to “HELL”oween – The Terror Maze @ Downtown East D'Marquee (WIN TICKETS!)

I can't emphasize how much I love the season of Halloween and the thrill it instills in me.
It's more than just dressing up!!
Strolling haunted houses, experiencing"ghosts"jumping out of every dark, unseen corner..Screaming out loud with friends and laughing at each other's silliness.. There is NO REASON for me not to love Halloween!

I was honored when I received an invitation to Downtown East for an exclusive Preview of Doors to "HELL"oween - The Terror Maze.
(Thank you, Zenna!)

Ah, in case you are not aware - This event is a collaboration between Downtown East and a team of Year 2 Singapore Polytechnic students. (Being an ex SP student, I feel so proud!!)

If you are wondering what is lurking around the darkness at Downtown East during this Halloween season, here's a *sneak* preview and exclusive photographs. Don't worry, there's loads more in store for you when you are physically there!

And OHHH... ...
Do stay tuned to the very end of this entry as YOU, my beloved reader, can get the chance to WIN a pair of tickets to this Halloween event, too! (And all you need to do is to answer a very simple question!!)

Do you know that there are 16 trails in the terror maze?!!!
It made me so excited that I couldn't wait to step foot into it and experience it.
The anticipation was killing me more than anything else.

Was greeted by this large sign when I reached.
*squeals in excitement*

I could feel the Halloween atmosphere around Downtown East (I love their decorations!)
Imagine walking down the walkway and feeling the creeps already...

We were issued 4 tokens that can be used for photobooth, make-up session (there was a talented make-up artist present whom was able to recreate any scary-looking wounds on your hand/face), carnival rides and games!!!
Holy. It's like having all of my favorites in one!

Pardon my ugly nail polish, LOL. Ahem.

Being the vain old me, I decided to go for a photobooth session before bracing myself for the Terror Maze.

There were a variety of costumes and props available for us to try on, and GUESS WHAT COSTUME I PICKED FOR MYSELF?!?!

Yes... It's none other than... ...

Qing Dynasty Princess costume! (Or more commonly known as "Princess Pearl" costume - Huan Zhu Ge Ge)

I know you are laughing!! Stop smiling at your screen - I can feel it. Hmph.

Just so you know, I have always been a HUGE fan of such ancient costumes (I even have one myself at home!) and seeing it as part of the photobooth costumes made me squeal like an excited little girl.

Must take more, must take more.

There are still tons of photos I have taken of myself in costume (Gosh, I am such a camwhore queen), but I shan't post all of them here!!

And there was instant printing services in which I was able to take home a hard copy as a momento.
Thank you sooo much for the wonderful service!!

Here it is.
Pardon the blurry photo. I was trying to take a photo of a photograph!

NICE?!?! I'm a Qing Dynasty Princess leh, don't play play!

Finally, after all the photo-taking fun... We were told that the Terror Maze was ready and awaiting us.
"OH YES!" I squealed.

While standing around the entrance of the Terror Maze, I thought it was my imagination when I heard what seemed to be evil laughter echoing from inside.

"HIEK HIEK HIEK HIEK! HA HA HA HA!!"

*shivers*

Oh dear.....Do I.. Do I.... really... have to go in?

It was then that the doors to the entrance opened...
In no time, I was engulfed in darkness as I stepped into the unknown world of fear. I totally had no clue what was in store for me except that there would be ghosts lurking around and observing my every move...

As the place was simply too dark, I had no choice but to activate flash for some of the photographs that I'll be posting here (Believe me, it feels completely different when you are physically there - It's DARK!)

Caution! Now I've been warned....

One of the scary settings.
(The photos are not taken in sequence. I actually went TWICE to the maze - First to experience the terror and second to capture photographs! See? I sacrificed myself to face the terror twice just to capture photos for you readers!! How noble. )

The maze has different parts that we needed to conquer ... It just seemed to get spookier as we walked deeper into it...

Some of the photos are not in clear state as there were smoke. Yes, the ATMOSPHERE!!
Notice this somehow ugly-looking witch sitting at this long dinner table below? He/She was seriously scary and has a thunderous voice - loud enough to have me scrambling off to the next part of the maze.

A clearer look at him:
(As we got further from him, he said "Don't look back".... The tone was so scary, lah! )

The maze seemed to be endless while you are in the midst of it. And there is no turning back.

Lend me a helping hand??
(I was extra careful when crossing this....It seemed as though there were hundreds of hands reaching out to us..*imagination running wild*)

Now. Don't forget that these look so much more scarier in real life.
The hands looked kinda' real!!!!! Yucks.

Spotted this huge black thing lying at a corner. I had no idea what it was. A corpse?
(For a moment, I was afraid that it would suddenly move and jump at me!)

Trying to act brave inside a haunted maze

Right.. This is one scene I will NEVER forget.
Did you guys spot anything weird in the picture?

No? Look again. Closely.

YES. THOSE WERE REAL WORMS (They are harmless though) wriggling around on that freaking skeleton.
EEW.

But I was not exactly worried as I did not get near to those wriggly creatures.

Came across a few faceless "nurses" as well that reminded me of Silent Hill. (One of them was even holding an injection needle and looked like she was ready to strike anytime! Not to mention that she looks like a mannequin)

You know what is it that I find scary?
That I couldn't differentiate between what's a mannequin and a real person!
There were several times when we had a scare as what we thought was fake suddenly moved. Urgh.

... So yes, we eventually survived the Terror Maze, not once... But twice!
Time seemed to pass exceptionally slow when we were in there.

When we came out, we headed for the fun make-up session.
Finally... A time to sit down, relax and let the make-up artist do the job.
She was able to create any "wounds" on any part of your face/hand.
Urgh ...Looks sick!!

There were many other fun activities there other than the Terror Maze. It was like a small carnival (Does Uncle Ringo ring a bell to you?)
Do try these out when you are there. Trust me, it's much MORE scarier than it looks.
I didn't give much thought when I agreed to climb up this harmless-looking cliff.

And BELIEVE ME when I say I SCREAMED while sliding down at the other side. I SCREAMED so loud that a young little kid (who happened to witness me sliding down) was screaming with me too. Funny shit!!
But it was hella' FUN, really. Try it with your friends if you are there - The experience will be unforgettable.

There is also a wheel-looking thing that will spin you 360 degrees - I admit I was too scared to sit on it. So I just stood around and watched others.

If you are in for a totally harmless, nothing-to-be-afraid-about activity, there are carnival games as well for the young and old.
And you can win soft toys as well!!!
I WON 2 CUTE PANDAS there!!!
Photos are not very well-taken, but here they are:
CUTE RIGHT?!

And yesss... Here's a pic of myself and lovely Shirley from Downtown East. She was really kind and extended such great hospitality by bringing us around the area! Thank you so much, Shirley, and it was a great pleasure meeting you!

[Media Preview] Santacon 2013! Let's Party!

Was invited to Singapore's first ever SantaCon 2013 - Media Preview!
(Thank you to Access Communications for the media invitation!)

Do read on to find out more about the actual event that is happening on 20th and 21st December 2013 - and I am personally sharing the joy by giving away 2 pairs of tickets to YOU! :)

As we reached *quite* early, I took the opportunity to camwhore by the river as the scenery was looking fabulous!

Me and the sleepy-eyed momo:

When it was nearing 7pm, we proceeded to the media registration booth!

I got to know that one of my blogger friends, Q (a.k.a Rynaque) was working there as well; and it was so nice seeing her again after a long while. Thank you so much for the hospitality, Q! :)

(It's a pity that I forgot to take a photo with her! Urgh)

I sprung into a photo-taking mood upon arrival:

Momo and I:

We were served some delicious snacks and cocktail:
(Wow, this is such an artistic angle of my cocktail. LOL!)

And some chips:

We met some really friendly people at the event and chatted - I find it interesting how all of us were given a Santa hat each in the spirit of the event! It's like an early celebration of X'mas, and I can feel it already! *excited*

This cute momo of mine went to ask around for a Santa suit - and he was so enthusiastic in becoming Santa =_=

Another friendly Santa Claus offered to help us take a pic - so here we are:

And beneath the crowd stood someone familiar:

Somehow I am starting to think that he looks convincing as a Santa Claus... LOL

Oh hi - Don't you wish your Santa was HOT like me? Don't cha~ Don't cha~

And it's a party!

Fascinating sight to witness so many people in Santa suits, isn't it?

And to think this is only a preview! The actual event is gonna' be a blast.
Imagine a sea of Santa Clauses strutting down the streets... You ain't seen nothing yet!
On 20th and 21st December 2013, Boat Quay will be transformed into a joyful Santa's headquaters as thousands of Santas and Santarinas will take over the riverfront.

So what exactly is SantaCon?
(In short, it's actually something like... a Santa Conference!)
It is an international festive phenomenon where revelers in cities around the world gather and dress in Santa costumes to embark on a jolly excursion with singing and dancing performances.
(Do log on to www.santacon.sg to find out more!)

So are you ready to party and join in the Santa fun during this upcoming Christmas season?
Bring your loved ones, relatives and friends to join you and I'm sure it will be one of the most memorable Christmas you'll ever spent!

Tickets to the event cost $10 for Saturday and $20 for both days!
(You may book your tickets online via www.santacon.sg/tickets)

On top of that, ticket holders are entitled to participate in all the activities with fantastic prizes up for grabs. FIRST 3000 attendees will also receive a bag of goodies worth $100 of vouchers and products!

Isn't it awesome to have fun and yet being entitled to so many benefits?
AND there are even more benefits exclusively FOR YOU; yes- the one reading my blog right now.
I'm giving away 2 PAIRS of Saturday tickets on 20th December 2013 (Yes, goodie bag redemption included)- and
all you have to do is to share this post on your Facebook page and HASHTAG #SGCOMPLAINQUEEN .

Do send me an e-mail at catherinejaevans@hotmail.com with your name and contact details after doing so; and I'll get in touch with you should you be picked as my winner :)

I will pick 2 winners on a random basis by Thursday, 19th December 2013, and will make arrangements to meet you on the actual day to pass you the tickets. :)

It's time to party!!
