Apple fans are just... crazy

So what's raging?

Behold - the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

So I came across an article below:

Thunderous rain was not enough to put off fans eager to get their hands on the newly released iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones as they camped overnight outside London's Covent Garden and Regent Street Apple stores.
In spite of the less than ideal weather, the queue of around 1,000 people outside the Covent Garden store was in high spirits this morning as they waited for the 8am opening time.
The first and second people at the head of the queue were friends Jameel Ahmed and Sam Sheikh.
Sam Sheikh (left) and friend Jameel Ahmed were the first and second people in the queue.
"We're excited about the Plus' big screen," they said. "We're hoping to get the gold one, last time we missed it."
When asked what was so special about Apple, Mr Ahmed said: "It's the usability, there's no other phone or operating system like it."
The pair have been queuing since late last week, returning home to sleep.
The pair were led in by members of staff to whoops and cheers. The rest of the queue faces a patient wait of several hours within barriers policed by security.
Across the world, Australian teenager Jack had camped outside the Apple store overnight in his hometown of Perth to ensure a spot at the front of the queue. He then promptly dropped it during a TV interview.

Fans crane eagerly to watch customers ahead of them in the queue leave with their purchases
Each device is available in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB configurations, with the iPhone 6 starting from £539, £619 for the 64 GB version and £699 for the 128GB model.
The iPhone 6 Plus will retail from £619 for 16GB, £699 for the 64GB model and £789 for the new 128GB model.
The queue to get into the Regent Street store
Zoltan Wiettchen from Hungary was the first customer to leave the Regent Street Apple store with his new purchase, after camping outside the shop for 11 days.
Zoltan Wiettchen leaves with his new phone
He purchased the iPhone 6 at 8.03am on behalf of mobile casino LeoVegas, which ran a competition for UK players who had used the site in the past week. Alex Bowman, 35, an antiques dealer who lives in Wimbledon, was randomly selected to be the lucky recipient of the phone.
There are reports from customers queuing outside the flagship Regent Street store that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus has completely sold out.
"I'm getting a very wonderful feeling of success and victory," said Mr Sheikh as he emerged with his new phones. "Last year I queued for almost seven nights and every morning the manager used to come and announce 'Sorry, we don't have any gold phones in stock' and I felt like a loser. But now I am feeling that on the first day I am one of the first people who is getting the gold in his hand, so I'm feeling very excited, very contended."
The pair jump for joy at being the first to purchase the new handsets
Those towards the back of the queue faced the possibility of not being able to buy their desired model.
"We have been told if we're at the back of the queue, the chance of getting a 6 Plus are highly unlikely now," said Richard, a man queueing to buy a 6 Plus for himself and an iPhone 6 for his partner. "But, a lot of people haven't made their mind up yet, maybe they'll get up there and think 'That's too big,' stick to a standard one and we may be in luck."

Huge crowds have also gathered outside Glasgow's Apple store in the wake of the referendum.
Analysts have called it Apple's biggest launch ever. Stores in Australia, the first to officially sell the new phones, had over 2,000 customers, some of whom had flown around the world to be there.
Stores in Japan witnessed the largest lines ever of over 1,300 customers, spanning the distance of two subway stations.

Seriously, I can never understand what all the fuss is about. Maybe it's just me or I don't see the big deal about owning the latest mobile phones.
Personally, a phone is just a, well, phone.
Duh. *rolls eyes*

Shopping Addiction: My new AQUA mobile phone!

You know, sometimes I really love and hate Qoo10 (previously known as Gmarket) at the same time.
They sure have their ways to make online shoppers splurge on their wants instead of needs!
Imagine scrolling through their best deals out of boredom... And suddenly you spot something that captures your attention..
You start to add it to your shopping cart.. TA-DA...!
And the rest is history.

Of course, there are other highly recommended sites as well that have the same addictive trait.
One such example is ZALORA, an e-tailer that offers a wide variety of choices (be it clothing, accessories, etc) for women and men! (Seriously, how often do you see a web store that has so many unisex choices - and yet at irresistibly affordable prices?!)

As if that is not enough, Zalora offers FREE delivery and CASH ON DELIVERY, too!

*squeals*

Totally spoilt for choice, lah. I'll go through their catalogue slowly.

And as below are just some of my random purchases (Not from Zalora though)- CARD PHONES from Qoo10 that I just wanna show off~ (GOOD THINGS ARE WORTH THE SHARE, RIGHT??! ;))

No, it's not an i-banking device..
Nor is it a calculator. =_=

It is a CARD PHONE! And it is really a card-sized phone - just like your any other ordinary ez-link card.
I got it for my mum as I thought it should be basic enough for her liking.
Well, in case you are wondering.. Yes, it supports any other normal SIM card. I actually got her a Singtel prepaid card to go along with it.

I was so fascinated with the phone that I ended up falling in love with one myself - except that mine has got to be a tad more expensive as I got a waterproof version.
So this means that I can drop it into the toiletbowl without worrying that it will become faulty.
Just kidding.
(Why in the world would I drop it into a toiletbowl unnecessarily, man?! LOL)

I actually wanted it badly due to its NEON color.
I don't really care about the waterproof function.

And no, I didn't get it from Qoo10.
It was the sweet boyfriend who went the extra mile to get it for me at a physical sports store in Singapore - yes, he did it behind my back.
(I was like.. WHAAATT??!!!)
*Ouch* I could see a hole burnt in his pocket.
Nonetheless, I am currently making good use of the phone for work purposes.
It's actually a VERY basic phone and not really worth the money that was paid for, but I still stubbornly love it as I know it's special and you cannot really find it in everyday stores.

Here's a short video that features it:

Just a summary of the pros and cons:

Pros:
-Small and handy (You can hang around your neck like a travel pass. Accessories and cables are provided!)

-It has a loud ringtone. So loud that even the deaf can hear it.

-Waterproof? (I haven't tested it out yet so I cannot comment much on this)

-Good for simple users such as kids, army, etc.

-Despite its simplicity, you'll be surprised that it as a FM radio function!

-Requires only very minimal charging time * Only 30 minutes and the phone can be on standy for 3-4 days! Amazing battery life, huh?

- A perfect conversation starter. I have met many people who are fascinated at the sight of this baby and started asking about it.

Cons:
-Initially, I thought it would be an ideal phone for senior citizens.. But it seems that the font and buttons are quite small.

-And no, it doesn't have wifi or bluetooth FYI.

BUT GUESS WHAT HAPPENED A FEW DAYS AGO?!
I was walking past this sales promoter and he attempted to compliment me on this cute little phone.
It was not until when he said..
"Hey, that's a calculator? Cute!"

*GRITS TEETH*
This little baby cost over a $100 and he mistook it for a calculator!?!?!

*Breathes in, breathes out*
OK... But I do admit it does look like one.
Oh well.
If anyone is interested in this phone, you may feel free to visit their website for more info at:

Keypad VS Touchscreen phones

I have been using this mobile phone for quite some time now:

It's the Nokia X5, by the way.

Yes, I get a lot of people asking WHY I am still stuck at this "Keypad" trend while almost everyone else has already moved on to touchscreen phones.

Honestly, I have NEVER owned touchscreen ones before. I have been adapting my life to keypad ones and am a LOYAL fan to that.

The world is so different now. People are starting to look down on such phones. (For you ignorant people out there, I have WIFI access and can use Whatsapp on my keypad phone, too, FYI!)

Android & Apple users are getting so used to applications that mobile phones have already lose their original purpose.

In the past, mobile phones were only meant for texting and calling. That was it. Games only existed in separate devices such as Sony PSPs, Nintendo DS, etc. (I believe many of you out there have been there, done that... Riiiighhhtt?)

On top of that, phones weren't meant to take photos either. Those were the "let-the-camera-do-the-job" days.

Well... It's a undeniable fact that the world is constantly changing. Mobile phones are no longer just a ... mobile phone.
It has to act as a camera, gaming device, internet kiosk, etc.
(YES, I know. Technology is so advanced nowadays and nobody can stop it from evolving.)

And here comes the question...
Why am I still holding on to a keypad phone despite the ever-changing Technology?
 The reason is simple.

I love the physical touch of the keypad. (Not that I have a fetish or anything =_=)
If you are a loyal keypad user yourself too, I am sure you will understand what I mean.
Nothing beats an actual and PHYSICAL keypad.

I love the fact that my fingers can feel the buttons when I am typing. (Heck, I can even type when I am not looking at my phone!)
And its impossible with touch screens. Try doing it and your words will get messed up by your auto-correcting feature when you are not looking.

And I am proud to say that my keypad phone is more durable than yours. Try dropping yours on the ground and see if it'll still be a complete piece when you pick it up.

I used to be a HUGE Samsung fan. I remembered looking forward to their new series of phone models during the keypad days. I would have a hard time choosing between flip phones, QWERTY ones, normal ones, etc. It was so much fun! Phones were so much more colorful then (instead of the typical choice of black and white these days =_=).

And I remembered dropping my poor Samsung flip phone into the toiletbowl at work while replying to a text message one fine day - and lo' & behold - it still survived!

But... ...

Look at Samsung now.
The only keypad phones that seemed to be existent from them are army phones. It is a sad fact that they are no longer producing nice keypad phones anymore.
The designs are a one-kind rectangular now... And not to mention the size is CONSTANTLY growing bigger.

So much that it's ridiculous.
One example?
Take a look at their Galaxy Tab (No offence if you happen to be a user. I am just stating my 2 cents):

WHAT IS THIS??!!

Why the heck would you carry such a large-sized mobile device on your hand?
Isn't a mobile device meant to be small and convenient... Something that you can easily slot into your pockets?
No offence there, but I somehow think a person will look silly when using it to make calls, especially if you have SMALL ears/ hands.

And let's welcome the second runner-up, the Samsung Galaxy Note.

Okay, at least it looks better than the Galaxy tab, in terms of design and size. BUT still, it's still BIG.
Some of you won't feel it because you are used to it already.
I've tried holding it and damn, it is unsightly on small hands.

And I believe such phones require a huge battery consumption, judging from its size! It's no wonder portable mobile chargers are so popular now.

Now, don't get me wrong. I am not condemning touchscreen phones or trying to be biased here. (Okay, maybe I am a little biased, but still....)
I agree that touchscreens can be useful to a large extent. For example, easier browsing of web and navigation, zoom function, etc.
It's just that I am more of a person who text, hence the reason why I am more particular in terms of keypads.
I've tried typing on phones that are touch screens for testing purposes, and I had such a tough time trying to type just a simple sentence. It made me mad!

Sadly enough, I know my days using a keypad phone are numbered. As much as I dread to use them, I know I have to keep up with the Technology. (Especially when I am working in an IT-related industry) On top of that, I wouldn't have much choice when keypad phones become extinct, would I?
Judging by the rate it's going, I believe keypad phones are indeed on the verge of extinction.

Well.... There's a first time for everything, I guess.
I do hope my journey on touch screens is going to be a happy one and probably I can prove myself wrong one day.

P/S: Even though I am not using touch screens at the moment, I am still keeping up with the trend and technology. Yes, I did research!!
