Modern Girls = Money or Love?

So I came across an attention-grabbing pic on Facebook the other day (I'm sure many have seen it, too since people were crazily sharing it)

It was posted by a girl, believed to be a Singaporean since the notes are in Singapore currency, duh. LOL.

A bouquet of money - Perfect for anyone who sees money as God.

From the comments, it appeared that many were envious of the girl as they were gushing over how blessed she is (Since it is believed that this was a gift from her boyfriend)

Granted that money can be used to buy almost ANYTHING in the world - there is no denial that everyone loves it (Who doesn't love money, right??!)
But... I just find it appalling how people view Materialism as a form of blessing.
Not that I am being jealous of the above-mentioned girl, but I just think that the line between money and love has blurred in our modern society.

If a guy is rich and willing to give you lots of money to spend on anything you like, you will instantly become the center of attention where friends would be green with envy.
People will think you lead a blissful life because your other half is RICH.

I do personally know of girls whom were open about their criteria in looking for a boyfriend.
That is, MUST BE, MUST BE, MUST BE RICH.

Somehow, I pity those guys. Either they are obsessed with the girl, or just purely... blinded.
Yes, you would think your girl loves you for who you are.
Try being broke and bankrupt, and see if she will still stick by you.
If yes, congratulations. She's a keeper.
If no, then I'm sorry. No love for you from the second your money is gone. LOL)
That's a reality happening in our modern society.
(Yes, if you are those kind of girls... SHAME ON YOU)

I am not saying that ALL girls are like that, I am just quoting from the commonly-seen examples.
When I was younger, I thought materialistic girls were only found in dramas and movies. How naive.

Many have asked me the same question everyone would have faced at least once in their life -
 HOW ABOUT YOU?
What do you look for in a boyfriend?

To be honest, money is NEVER a priority in my looking-for criteria.
Don't get me wrong. I am not trying to be different from other girls or making myself sound like a worthy down-to-earth girl.
I am just speaking from the perspective of what I really think.

Even if you are an handsome individual who is rich and able to buy me the moon and stars, I will never fall for you if the feelings are not right.
Feelings.
I'll rather choose someone who is poor but rich in love.
I'm okay with eating porridge for my 3 meals.
I'm okay with living in a small flat with my other half.
I'm okay with not receiving luxurious gifts (in fact, I prefer handmade ones. I really do not understand why anyone would DISLIKE handmade gifts)

As long as you are not some rich Casanova who has difficulty staying loyal and taking my simpleness for granted - Money and looks are nothing but just additional bonus.

What is money without love?
Maybe modern girls don't believe in true love anymore, I guess.

Random 13 Facts about Me

1) My dialect is Hokkien. However, I can't listen or speak a word of it. (except for those common words that are often heard) Yes, and it isn't putting me at any advantage because people often talk bad about me in Hokkien and I couldn't understand a word of it. #(*$&(#$&

2) People laugh whenever I said this - But yes, I have MAJOR stage fright. More than anyone can imagine.

3) Many would describe me as having a bubbly/cheerful personality. However, my true nature sometimes reflect the opposite as I can get very negative at times.

4) I am quite an anti-social person. As a blogger, people often have the misconception that I have a large social circle. While it may be true for other bloggers, it isn't the same for me. I have difficulty initiating conversations and keeping them going. Funnily enough, I am often not a choice that people would pick to approach.

5) I love singing and have aspired to be a singer ever since I was... 14? I was given opportunities to be groomed after being spotted by a music producer once but forego them due to my major stage fright. It has always been one of my biggest regrets in life but well... Life still moves on, right?

6) I used to dislike Michael Jackson. I only became a fan after his death and I am honest about it.

7) My favorite color is orange. Oh, maybe red and black, too.

8) I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Halloween. And I love the fact that my birthday falls within the season.

9) I treasure my loved ones more than myself.

10) I am a super, duper LOW maintenance person. I have never owned any clothing or apparel that cost more than $30. And yes, call me cheapskate - I prefer Kopitams and Coffeeshops to high class restaurants. Personally, high class restaurants are only meant for celebration of special occasions.

11) When it comes to love and relationship, I am a complete noob. However, I am one person that will stay faithful and loyal to my special one while giving him the best that I can.

12) I love to eat chicken rice without the chicken meat.. and duck rice without the duck meat. In case you are wondering whether I am joking, I am not.

13) Here's a surprising fact to people who will NEVER believe that I was once a sporty person - I used to play basketball, badminton (I LOVE PLAYING BADMINTON!!!) and cycling when I was young. Unfortunately, I grew up lazy and am spoilt rotten at home now. Gradually, sports became the last thing on my mind.

What do you mean... ...Hello Kitty is NOT a Cat?!?!

So news have it that Hello Kitty is not a cat afterall... Or is she??
As I am not really a huge Hello Kitty fan, I guess I ain't bothered by this sudden fact.
But I still have to say that Hello Kitty IS a cat.

It bears the name "Kitty"; and it's usually interlinked with cats. Sanrio, IF she is indeed not a cat, then it should not come as a surprise to you that people of all ages would THINK that she is a cat.

Well... She has whiskers.
She has ears of a cat.
She doesn't have fingers.
She doesn't talk (and cats don't talk indeed)

She's just a cat that doesn't walk on all fours.

To say that she is in fact, a human girl, just sounds nonsensical to me.
Does a human even look like that?!
*inserts astonished face here*

So.. can anyone tell me now..
Is DORAEMON A ROBOT CAT?
LOL.

10 Years Ago.. ...

I was reminiscing my childhood memories - for no whatsoever reason- one fine night and took a short trip down memory lane.

Somehow, it became a thought-provoking one as I realized how much the culture and behavior of humans have changed.
I have came up with a list of those that I could remember based on the generation I was from. No offence to anyone in particular, but I just thought some were pretty funny!
How much can you relate to the below points?

1) I make sure you pay!
10 Years Ago: Parents would tell the school/tuition teachers "Feel free to teach my kid a lesson if he/she does not pay attention! You can cane him/her ah!"

Now: "*screams* YOU DARE TO LAY A FINGER ON MY KID, I'LL MAKE SURE YOU PAY FOR IT! #*($#(*&$#!! *lodges a complaint to MOE*

2) I STOMP YOU!
10 Years Ago: *Teacher threw chalk, markers, ruler, whiteboard dusters at student who wasn't paying attention*

Now: *Student takes out camera phone secretly from pocket and records a video/take a snapshot of the teacher to post on STOMP*

3) When being Anti-Social becomes a trend... ...
10 Years Ago: *Students laughed and played gleefully with five stones, zero-points and hop-scotch (probably the better ones would be found playing with board games such as Snake & Ladder) during recess hours* Ah, such luxury of life... ...

Now: *Students take out iPhone, iPad, tablets and gets engrossed in their own virtual world while updating their Facebook statuses*

4) Let's go steady!
10 Years Ago:
*Guy A is interested in Girl A*
Guy A: Eh, want to go steady or not?
Girl A: *smiles shyly* So you want to be my stead ah?
Guy A: Steady, lah!
-And they are official-

Now:
*Guy A sends relationship request to Girl A*
*Girl A accepts relationship request*
*Latest Facebook update: Guy A is in a relationship with Girl A*
-And they are official-

5) When long letters become an instant message
10 Years Ago:
*Students wrote long letters on fanciful-looking papers and passed them to each other during available hours* Oh! The thrill of receiving letters and the anticipation to read them!

Now: *Students take out mobile phones and send instant messages using Chat applications*

6) My World and Yours are Different

10 Years Ago:
*Students talked their hearts out and gave full attention to one another while treasuring every moment they could*

Now: *Students take out their mobile phones and get engrossed in each of their separate world while still seated together*

7) Friends Forever!
10 Years Ago:
*Students bought different colored strings/threads to sell and made friendship bands* Aww, the sweetness of friendship...

Now: Let's have some Rainbow loom fun!

8) Write my diary!
10 Years Ago:
*Students passed a diary book to one another and requested friends to write in their diary using different colored pens*

Now:
*Anticipates a Facebook Wall post*

9) It's music!
10 Years Ago:
*Students showed off their Discman and listened to music with a CD loaded in it*

Now:  *Students log onto Youtube using their mobile phones and start surfing away*

10) Growing up...
10 Years Ago: (Okay, not really 10 years ago)

Now:

Okay, just to end this entry on a funny note.
*shrugs*
Happy Holiday, folks!

Summarizing In Pictures

It has been a crazily fun period lately, and I am putting up a blog entry just to summarize my life in pictures!
My apologies as  there are no high resolution images since all of the pics below were taken using my Samsung S3.
You know, having a smart phone means that I am getting lazier to bring an actual camera out due to its bulkiness - unless I am attending events, which goes without saying as I wouldn't want to deliver shitty pictures to my sponsors and clients.

Anyway.. Here goes:

Firstly, I went to Hong Kong with my BFFs.
(Yeah... Right.. Dream on. This was actually an advertisement backdrop at a local MRT station =_=)
In fact, this photo below deserves a special mention as it was taken by a passerby who probably thought that we were looking pathetic since we were found squatting down and trying to do a self-shot. Oh damn.

It has been a looong while since the 3 of us hung out together as a trio. Talk about a Girls' Day Out! :)
Lo' and behold' - I was a 7-11 mascot for the day.

NOOOO - I was not paid in any way for this. I was just dressing up for fun - much to the amusement of many onlookers.
(In case you are wondering where I got that tee from... YES, I got it during my Bangkok trip!)

It seemed like I had to stop and take a photograph for every 7-11 that I came across.
Seriously, how about hiring me to be your actual mascot, 7-11?
LOL.

We had a walkabout at Watsons; and I stopped short in my tracks when I noticed the store was having SALES!

Yes, you save $0.10!! Lai ah~ Lai ah~ Huge discount!

We ended up taking night scenery shots:
(Yes, we were really walking around aimlessly!)

No, we did not spend much money- but it was a happy trip. You know, the activities do not really matter when you are with your close friends.

Thank you for being a huge part of my life!
This may seem like a pointless entry, but having blogged it here is like part of my life journal.

And ohhh.. Before I end this entry on a happy note...

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL READERS OUT THERE! :)

P/S: And oh, oh... I have gotten myself a new bag from my latest online shopping spree! Danny Bear bag! Cute, huh?!
Just in case you are wondering, I got it from Taobao. (Who says China goods are bad?!)

Not that I do not have anything more to complain, but life has just been pretty stagnant.
Still, I must find a way to keep this blog alive... Right, riiiighht??? :)

So here's an art piece that I did weeks back~
Seriously, how long has it been since I last did an art piece? I just hope I haven't lose touch yet~

Here's a Policeminion (LOL) - Despicable Me:

Random Thoughts of 2013

So... 2012 was here...
And now it's gone!

Still, the memories remain. Seriously, I am kinda anticipating and dreading 2013 at the same time. (*praying hard that 2013 will be a better year.)
But I do have a resolution though!
Dream big as it may be, but I am actually thinking of writing my own book.
Lol, this isn't the first time that I am saying this - But my plans always fell short halfway.
Oh well.
All of you will be the first to know if my book will ever see the daylight someday. Haha.

Gonna update happier thoughts!
Was invited to a group photoshoot by Datsumo Labo a few weeks back ~
It was  fun shoot ; and I was telling one of the girls how it felt so much like a girl group debut shoot. LOL.

New Girls Generation... ... NOT. Hahaha.

Picture credits to Datsumo Labo's Facebook Page

It was actually supposed to be a shoot for Datsumo Labo's website banner or other miscellaneous designs for their online campaigns.

And... this was one of the designs they came up with!
(Gosh, seriously I don't look very flattering in the shot. My jaw was dropping from smiling too much the entire time! Haha. This was actually one of the many shots that was taken..)

On a random note, my Facebook page, CJ Cartoons, has finally passed the 800 mark by 2013! Whee~ It's considered a small achievement for me, judging by the fact that I didn't really expect much when I started out on the page.
I hope that it will still continue to grow with your support! :) It won't be possible without you.. So here's a thank-you and hug from me to you! (Now why does this sound like a Barney song? LOL)
.
.
.
So how did you spend your last day of 2012?

For me, I ended with my lovelies - Pitrra and Ben.
(Wow, time flies! Cheers to our friendship!)
Special thanks to Pitrras's parents for hosting us. It sure was a heartwarming celebration - together with turkey, ham, ice-cream and wine! ;) Haha.
*Glad I am not drunk*

Pitrra made this for us! It tasted really great- something like what you would expect from a retail store. Haha, and I am not exaggerating!
Thanks, Pit!
(Sorry that this was taken from my handphone camera so the resolution kinda sucks.)
But still... I am glad I captured the moment!
Haha.

Guess that's it for today's update.
Cheers, and Happy 2013 to all who are reading this! ;)

It's the GANGNAM style!

So the SG Complain Queen here has finally fallen prey to sickness.
She hates being sick! (Then again, who doesn't??!)
Came down with a weird fever while singing Karaoke with my colleagues.
Dang - I seldom have fever! WHY?!
Thanks to all my friends who have showered me with concern for the past days. I'm feeling better now after taking panadols.

Anyway, there are still two advertorials coming up (Yes, I guarantee you that they will be interesting).
Thanks to all sponsors for keeping me alive with blogging! :)
I am currently still open to more, so do feel free to hit me up at:

Okay, back to the topic... ..
I have been resting well these past 2 days! So well that I managed to dig some time out to do what I have always loved - drawing.

So can anyone guess what/who I was drawing??!

Another 2nd piece I came up with today:

I think my drawing skills have somehow de-proved =_="
Gotta buck up!
If you are interested to see more of my drawings, do feel free to go to: www.facebook.com/CJcartoons/
I think I am behaving weirdly now, even the way I am blogging now is weird!
HAHAHA.
Well, whatever it is... Stay tuned for upcoming juicy updates!

Random Post - My babies! :)

I've always loved random little things.
So much that my parents are complaining that our house has already ran out of space!
I don't know why, but these babies ALWAYS get the better of me. :)
Just like these random little things, this shall be a random little blog entry. LOL.

Capybaras/ Kapibara-San! I fell in love with the character ever since I saw it.

Domokun/Domo! I have them in different sizes, and they come in the form of pouches, bags, etc. :)

At the back is Xiao Bao, my teddy who sleeps beside me everyday.
We share the longest relationship ever!
(Yeah, I bought him using my first pay when I got my very FIRST job in life! That was ages ago since I was in secondary school.)

Familiar? Mr Bean teddies, given to me by someone who don't want them anymore. I still have more with me, in which consisted of gifts, personal purchases, etc.

Yeah, it's the small things in life that keep me happy.
