[Halloween Love] Cursed Studio 2013

Halloween~ Halloween~ Halloween!!!
*sings and dances happily*

With thanks to Halloween.sg , I was given the opportunity to attend yet another chilling Halloween event - this time with my BFF, Pei Wen, whom shares the same Halloween passion as I do.

(I always find it exciting to attend such events with close friends. It adds on to the tension and excitement altogether!)

Seriously, I feel an adrenaline rush whenever it comes to Halloween. So you can imagine how ecstatic I was to attend Cursed Studio's very first organized Halloween activity!

(Media and bloggers were invited as well; BUT no - I did not attend under my usual identity as a blogger; just a normal participant this time! Hence, there was NO photograph taken since we were told it wasn't allowed.)

Nonetheless, I took a few photos outside while queuing for our turn. Guess what- we were actually the first in queue! In other words, we would be the first group to enter the Cursed Studio. *smirks* It pays to get there early. Ha.

I redeemed my tickets and there they were; with spooky graphics and all!

Here's an official teaser that was released by the team on Youtube; I watched it before attending the event to get a better idea of the storyline:

My Halloween verdict: It's apparent that the team has came together and invested a hell lot of effort and time in creating Cursed Studio. Despite that it is their first time organizing it, I felt that they have managed to grasp the right atmosphere.
Stepping into Cursed Studio was just like stepping into a real haunted house; there were "cobwebs" spotted at certain corners of the areas; and it seemed as though we were at a place that has been long abandoned.

However, there were certain parts that I felt could be further improved; such as safety precautions. I felt that  their precautions were not adequate as the staircases in the studio were quite steep. To make matters worse, the only light source was the electronic small candles that were decorated along the staircases, giving the area a dim glow.
I felt they weren't enough, and had to switch on my mobile phone for better source of light. (Unfortunately, we were told not to do that). I ignored the advice and proceeded as there were certain areas that I really had difficulty seeing and making my way through. The darkness was so much of a hindrance; and I was being VERY careful not to trip and tumble down the stairs. (I won't be surprised if someone actually rolled down the stairs at that kind of condition we were in!)

Nonetheless, I enjoyed the atmosphere that was built around the studio.
But the price of $48 wasn't really worth it (in my opinion) due to the fact that it is a small-scaled one.
Well... Whatever it is, I am glad to go through the experience!

Thank you to everyone who participated in my recent giveaway!
It's really heartwarming to receive your entries ; especially when I know you guys love Halloween as much as I do!
Many of you have got the answer correct - THE TWINS!

As this is totally a fair game, I will be totally transparent here - I have actually selected the winners using a Random Generator. (Hence, everything is generated randomly!)

Congratulations to Saralyn and Hui Lin!

Both of you have won yourselves a trip to the Museum of Horrors 2013. Embrace yourselves for the horror that awaits you!
(I have sent both of you an e-mail notification; so do check your junk folder too just in case!)

As for the rest of the participants, I sincerely thank each and every one of you who supported my blog.
Please do continue to support me, alright? :) I'll be hosting more giveaways soon - and I hope everyone can be a winner!

[Invite @ BeerFest 2013] I DON'T USUALLY DRINK BEER. BUT WHEN I DO, IT'S TAIWAN BEER!

Guess where was I on 16th June 2013?
.
.

Well.. Probably you were there...

Yes, I was at BeerFest Asia 2013 - With thanks to the lovely fellows at Kaimay for inviting me over!

Our Complimentary 1-Day tickets handed to us by the lovely Ms Tachi from Kaimay. :)

Wrist tags:

And here we are, making our way towards the majestic-looking Taiwan Beer's booth!

We were invited to sit on the cosy sofa at the booth where we were revealed the most anticipated new flavors from Taiwan Beer:
(If you are a fellow Taiwan Beer fan, you'll definitely NOT want to miss this out. Guarantee plus chop!)

I spotted this Graffiti wall and thought it looked artistic!
(I found out from Ms Tachi that one of the staff at the booth actually drew them all by herself! Impressive huh!)

.
And... Here they are:

*drum rolls*
.
.
.
.
.
.

The latest 2 flavors - GRAPE FRUIT BEER and ORANGE FRUIT BEER!

*pours*

Are you excited yet??!!
Both Pei Wen and I were given the opportunity to have a taste of them - and I have to admit that we were COMPLETELY in a state of euphoria when we tasted the Grape flavor.
I still remembered the distinct taste when I had my first slurp and went excited over it.
I looked at Pei Wen and exclaimed "OMG, this tastes really good!"

Hahaha, and she reached over enthusiastically to take a slurp too.
Her expression was priceless.

No kidding, it became both of our instant favorite. Not to mention that the grape flavor blends in really well with the the slight alcohol taste.
(Don't worry if you are not a fan of alcoholic drinks. Taiwan Beer is unlike other beers.. And even non- alcoholic drinkers will tend to love it!)

As for the Orange flavor, it tastes really refreshing!
However, I would say that the taste of orange isn't that strong though.

If you are one who is more towards the taste of alcohol but YET not too much, the new Orange flavor will definitely be something that you will find satisfying.
Don't believe me? Keep your eyes peeled for their appearance in the leading supermarkets and convenience stores near you and give them a try yourself!

Overall, both are seriously a great addition to the Taiwan Beer series. I'll bet you will be as pleasantly surprised as I was.
And one thing about the those beers - They taste awesome when chilled! So keep them in your refrigerators for maximum pleasure.

Well.. Moving on to blog about my happenings at the event:

We were given a mini fan each, and it's soooo cute!
(I heard they were the only exhibitor that came up with this idea at BeerFest..And it's no doubt that they are very thoughtful as the weather has been very hot these days. (Actually... ...he word 'hot' is an underestimation!)

Flipping it around to the opposite side:
Awww..
Well, see that Facebook logo over there?
Go LIKE it if you will! :)

And here, I proudly present you my FAVORITE air float (I don't actually know what it is called) but I have been falling in love with it since the day I spotted it at previous events. LOL:

The beer bottle float is very cute right! I really hope Taiwan Beer will be giving this out as part of their promotions with purchase. Haha, but I heard that they did give them out during the first few days of BeerFest  and the response was good!

Camwhoring time:

These are actually Styrofoam stands that were transformed into a temporary "table" to hold our drinks:

I loitered around the booth, trying to take as many photos as I could.
Now, look at those bottles! Stop salivating, I know you want em'. Haha.

Pick one:

I don't know why but I think I look kinda greedy here - in an unglamorous way. LOL. But just for entertainment value, I'm gonna post it!

Both Pei Wen and I took a walk outside and I was still holding this beer float everywhere in my hand. HAHAHA. There were beer promoters from other brands that had wanted to approach me but they stopped when they saw me holding this.

My beautiful bff  - Thanks for coming along with me!

Trying to act like some superstar but turned out look more like an auntie:

That's Jolin Tsai, Taiwan Beer's official ambassador!
(But of course I am not talking about her physical self. It's just a photo banner of her. Hahaha)

YAY! I'm holding the new Grape flavor in my hands!

And last but not least.. My favorite photo *trying to act demure*
:

Ah, it has always been lovely meeting the nice people from Kaimay again.
Thank you for inviting me to your events!
You know..

"I DON'T USUALLY DRINK BEER. BUT WHEN I DO, IT'S TAIWAN BEER!
- Catherine

This line has been popping up in my mind after I came back from the event. LOL.

Thanks to the lovely peeps at Kaimay for the generous sponsor of Taiwan Beer! #ijustcantgetenoughofyou

You rock!

Alright...Before I end off this entry, here's something that you should check it out (Go "LIKE" it if you haven't):

They will be posting updates every now and then, so be sure you'll be one of the first to find out more details and information about the beers!

Food Fair @ Expo 2013 + Complaint entry

Yes, so I finally went to Food Fair last week!
(Yes... I guess I have selective eating habits. I can eat a hell lot if its something I really love to the core.)

A must-try is the mala toufu. Of course, if you are one who enjoys eating spicy stuff like me... then you will definitely love this little dish. No joke!!
I made a mistake when I went though... Yes, I didn't bring along my professional camera. :( So no yummylicious photos for this blogpost.
But I am still gonna' dig out some photos online... Purely for illustration purposes only! HAHAHA.

I often receive questions like "Why is it that you can't grow fat?!", and girls will tell me how jealous they are when they see my petite size.
WELL, here's the cold hard truth.

YES. I will not grow fat even if I consume alot of junk, oily or random edible stuff. BUT I will suffer a bloated face ! YES, all fats are transmitted to MY freaking face.
I would get so depressed, because those fats will show up in photos. And that is why I often go on a "diet" to cut down those fats.
I won't be able to look my best. So, are you still jealous of my petite size? :(

Anyway, back to my food fair topic. *ahem*
Here's a pic I took using my phone's camera. Well, I am not taking it because their food is nice... BUT I WANT TO COMPLAIN!!!

As I was complaining on my Facebook earlier... Their customer service sucks.
Fancy that- People were crowding everywhere while trying to place their orders... AND wondering at the same time where the queue was.
There was no head or tail. The queue was simply everywhere!
And the staff wouldn't be bothered with you and maintain fairness in their way of service. The auntie who was supposed to be behind me got served first ( just because she owns a LOUD voice). And I was pitifully queuing with a 1 dollar coin in my hand with all the staff ignoring me while serving all those that were in front and behind me.

Like WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?!

Just because I look like a small or poor kid doesn't mean I have to face such treatment.
My face turned so black that day and I was ONLY finally served because of that.

Do you really have to wait till my face turns SO BLACK then you'll serve me?
If not for the fact that I was ordering for my dad to take back home, I would have stormed my way off.
Like seriously.

BAKER'S OVEN. Now I remember your freaking company's name.

Random Thoughts of 2013

So... 2012 was here...
And now it's gone!

Still, the memories remain. Seriously, I am kinda anticipating and dreading 2013 at the same time. (*praying hard that 2013 will be a better year.)
But I do have a resolution though!
Dream big as it may be, but I am actually thinking of writing my own book.
Lol, this isn't the first time that I am saying this - But my plans always fell short halfway.
Oh well.
All of you will be the first to know if my book will ever see the daylight someday. Haha.

Gonna update happier thoughts!
Was invited to a group photoshoot by Datsumo Labo a few weeks back ~
It was  fun shoot ; and I was telling one of the girls how it felt so much like a girl group debut shoot. LOL.

New Girls Generation... ... NOT. Hahaha.

Picture credits to Datsumo Labo's Facebook Page

It was actually supposed to be a shoot for Datsumo Labo's website banner or other miscellaneous designs for their online campaigns.

And... this was one of the designs they came up with!
(Gosh, seriously I don't look very flattering in the shot. My jaw was dropping from smiling too much the entire time! Haha. This was actually one of the many shots that was taken..)

On a random note, my Facebook page, CJ Cartoons, has finally passed the 800 mark by 2013! Whee~ It's considered a small achievement for me, judging by the fact that I didn't really expect much when I started out on the page.
I hope that it will still continue to grow with your support! :) It won't be possible without you.. So here's a thank-you and hug from me to you! (Now why does this sound like a Barney song? LOL)
.
.
.
So how did you spend your last day of 2012?

For me, I ended with my lovelies - Pitrra and Ben.
(Wow, time flies! Cheers to our friendship!)
Special thanks to Pitrras's parents for hosting us. It sure was a heartwarming celebration - together with turkey, ham, ice-cream and wine! ;) Haha.
*Glad I am not drunk*

Pitrra made this for us! It tasted really great- something like what you would expect from a retail store. Haha, and I am not exaggerating!
Thanks, Pit!
(Sorry that this was taken from my handphone camera so the resolution kinda sucks.)
But still... I am glad I captured the moment!
Haha.

Guess that's it for today's update.
Cheers, and Happy 2013 to all who are reading this! ;)

Goodbye 2012! :(

As 2012 is drawing to a close, I was suddenly - and randomly- overwhelmed by the thought of a memory recap. (I believe many bloggers will be blogging the same topic as I am! LOL)
Honestly, 2012 is considered a fruitful year for me. I have met so many new people and did things that I never thought I would.

During 2012, I... ...

-Finally Graduated. This marked another milestone of my life.

.
.
.

.
.
.

.

-Gave myself a crazy Christmas present
.
.
.

-Got myself an Android Touch-screen phone
(Like seriously??!!) I have always been complaining about touch-screens but yet I made an exception this time.
.
.
.
-Bought an ukulele!

Okay.. It might be impossible to list everything, but still... I would like to conclude that 2012 has indeed been one of the most fruitful and greatest years for me.
I have seen, heard and experienced so many things just within a year!.
Honestly, 2013 is filled with uncertainty.. And it's inevitable that I somehow fear a new beginning.
(According to superstition, it won't be an exactly lucky year for me.)

What will be in store for me?
Will it be a better or bad year?
Will there be any major changes?

*in deep thoughts*
But still... life has to go on, right?
Regardless whether I should go the pessimistic or optimistic way, the earth still goes round.
I guess what matters most is to treasure everything that I have currently and take one step at a time. Banish all those negative thoughts and move on with life!
And to all my beloved family, friends and readers out there... Thank you for being a part of me.
I have so many things to write, but yet its time like these when I feel that I am stuck with words.
Anyway.. ...
Here's to a great 2013 ahead!
