The many patterns of Selfies

Taking selfies has always been the trend. Everywhere- almost EVERYWHERE -it is not hard to spot someone aiming a phone at himself/herself on the streets.

Or one may also see tons of selfies on Facebook as well.
(I always wonder why people can upload so many selfies of the same poses. *rolls eyes*)

Of course, I can't criticize much as I am guilty of taking selfies as well - AND I shall demonstrate a few pattern-more-than-badminton expressions since I had too much time on my hands while taking this series of selfies:

The "show-teeth" smile selfie:

I would say smiling selfies are more decent, as compared to other irritating expressions (which I will demonstrate later). Of course, playing with angles is important as well. Tilting your head 45 degrees and aiming your phone at a higher position will give the "fake" impression that your face looks, erm, angular and slimmer.. I suppose. Oh, and don't forget the super bright lighting to shine on the side of your face so you look more like a dreamgirl.

The "close-mouth" smile selfie:

Not showing any teeth because your teeth ain't straight or probably you think you look better with mouth closed. I used to smile without teeth in photos but I realized it makes me look... unnatural in some ways.
Oh well, not everyone can pull off the same smile, I guess.

The "act-innocent" selfie:

Alamak, how old liao still want to act innocent? But I guess girls just like to be associated with... innocence. Or the look that can make anyone go "Awww.." so you can get away with anything.
Just give that lip of yours a little pout and you are good to go.

The "puffy" selfie: (AND THE MOST IRRITATING TYPE, IN MY OPINION)

OH MY GOODNESS, I can't stand it whenever girls do such expressions in selfies. (Me included) There is always a tendency to that in selfies when you run out of "ideas" - but please do not KEEP TO THAT EXPRESSION throughout ALL your selfies.
Do you think that kind of face will make you look cuter in all photos? One or two is fine, but ALL?! You must be kidding. It gives one the urge to slap your cheeks to deflate them.

Pattern more than badminton. Duh.

Okay, I guess I'm done with this really random post. Disclaimer: I'm not an expert in taking selfies, but just thought I would like to share some of the commonly-seen selfie expressions here.
If you feel offended in any way, I assume you are guilty. LOL.

[Event] Domino’s '4 Flavors on 2 Pizzas' Blogger Party

Guess where I was?
...
.......
..........

Yes! It's Domino's Pizza at Kovan! :)
Was honored to be invited to the Domino's '4 Flavors on 2 Pizzas' Blogger Party event last week  (Thanks, William from The Influencer Network!)
I was quite excited as Domino's Pizza has always been one of my personal favorites whenever it comes to pizzas (I love their thin crusts!) and was looking forward to what they have to offer.
Do note that I am not complimenting them because I was invited, but I do love their pizzas personally and patronize them myself quite frequently!

So.. *inserts random selfie here*

While waiting for the other bloggers to arrive, I went on a photo-snapping spree.

Here's the banner of their latest promotion -You will get to know more about it in my entry as you read on! You won't regret it, I promise!

Here's the lovely Ms.Linda, the Marketing Manager of Domino's Pizza!
(It was my 2nd time meeting her after my first Domino's Pizza event last year)

She gave us a briefing about their latest promotion - 2 for $22 pizza!

Now, this is really interesting as this is not just any ordinary promotion.
Can you believe that combining TWO different flavors of pizzas to form a complete pizza of your choice is POSSIBLE?! Speaking about win-win situation. Heh.

Seriously, this would be a dream come true for any pizza lover when it comes to being spoilt for choices.
Ever had those moments in which you JUST COULD NOT decide between two different flavors?
That's it... That's IT!
Domino's Pizza has came up with this genius idea of allowing their customers to mix and match four flavors of their choice (2 flavors on 1 pizza each) at a price of only $22 for both regular-sized pizzas!

Best of all, they are offering FREE delivery - meaning that the price you see is the price you'll pay. I love it that they have no hidden gimmicks when it comes to stuff like these.

With a pizza theme, there was a game prepared for us (It was quite a good ice-breaker for bloggers who did not know each other well) and here's the first round - We have to make a correct guess of the pizza sauce according to the names written on the post-it notes.

We were split into different teams and one representative of each team would have to taste the sauce.
(Thanks to Vivian - one of the bloggers whom I was in the same group with - for tasting it and making the correct guess!)

Here's what we have got:

Yep - Pesto Passion Sauce!
(I know it doesn't look really that appetizing by the looks of it, but trust me - looks can be deceiving!)

Now... Here's another round of the game and the fun part - We were given different choices of pizza crusts and ingredients that would go well with our chosen Pesto Passion Sauce.
We had to choose two different kinds (Half and Half) and combine them together.

We would then come up with a creative story (it can be anything - funny, romantic, cheesy... etc) and the winning team would be given Domino's vouchers worth $500!! This would make any Domino's fan go crazy. Urgh.

"So who will be the lucky winner of these $500 Domino's Pizza vouchers?"

And the representative of an interesting team would be given an exclusive "I am Incredible" apron designed by Domino's Pizza!! And it was said that this is the ONE and ONLY apron that was designed for this event!! How proud the winner would be to own this!!

So.. With a determination to win them.. Here we go.

We discussed and came up with a chicken + prawn love story (It was quite random actually.. but had fun laughing over it while making it up). And I have to EMPHASIZE that I am proud to have Melissa in our group - She is such a great illustrator! She drew the story in comic-strip form and made many of us going "awww" just by looking at the characters.

Took this shot secretly while she was at work - It reminds me so much of an artist at a live session drawing for fans. Hahaha. It's a surprising fact when she told us that she isn't a professional at art.

So.. Time for our "story presentation"!
Vivan presented our story in a bubbly manner.
(I was only a supporting cast. LOL)

And here is the masterpiece!
Notice the top wordings "CaVaMel"? It is an adaptation of our names : CAtherine,Vivian and MELissa
Credits to Vivian for coming up with such a genius name. Haha.

And here are the presentations of other teams :- Everyone came up with really interesting and hilarious ones! It was amazing, especially with the fact that we were given such a short time frame to come up with it. Bloggers are always creative creatures, I guess.

Hey, that's a nice shot!

I love the one that was presented below! Notice the famous James Bond sign? Yes, they came up with their own version of "James Prawn" story!

And...They eventually emerged as the winning team! Congrats, Dee! :)

Here's the winner who won the "I am Incredible" apron: -

Thank you Domino's Pizza for hosting the event and having us - and not forgetting that we had such a fulfilling stomach after the event.

What a feast!!

Kinda' hungry just by looking at these photos I took (and its in the middle of the night as I am blogging this! Damn, I hear my stomach grumbling now.... Oh no...)

(Photo Credits to The Influencer Network)

Oh Yes - Here's an example of how a half-half pizza would look like - So interesting right?!
Now you can get to enjoy two different flavors at one go! I REALLY LOVE THIS COMBINATION.

And oh, OH! Here's something I would like to EMPHASIZE on because it is my all-time favorite. In fact, I have been going around and introducing it to all my friends - even guaranteeing them that they will love it as much as I do.
Believe me - You HAVE to try at least once in your lifetime.

Ready...?

Yes... It's their classic CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE. GOSH #*&$(#&$#!!

I tried so much to take a good photograph of the lava cake - Even went to the extent of inserting my spoon into it to dig out the warm, heavenly chocolate content.

Ok ok, here.. A closer look at it. Can you FEEL it? Soft, warm chocolate cake that literally melts in your mouth...

It was quite a highlight too as many bloggers attempted to get good shots of the lava cake as well.

And... To express my love for the chocolate lava cake, I took up this sign and posed with it.
Woohooo!~ Make me the Chocolate lava cake ambassador!! LOL.

Here's a group photo of all the bloggers who attended the event: THANKS SO MUCH TO DOMINO'S PIZZA and THE INFLUENCER NETWORK for inviting us!! I had so much fun!!

I think I am going to order the half-half pizzas for my family some time soon - they will be so impressed! HAHAHA.

[Valentines Giveaway] Romance II Perfumes for the Perfect Couple

Yes, I did mention on my Facebook that I will be conducting a Valentine's Giveaway to my beloved readers.
(Well.. Even if you are not one of my readers but a random passerby, I will be kind enough to let you join in the fun too. I'm nice this way! HAHA)

Okay..
Everyone knows Valentines Day is just around the corner.. Right?
That explains the giveaway! Whether or not you are attached or single, I am still conducting this giveaway to everyone! :)

Here are the items:
(If you are one of my regular readers, you may have seen this lovely pair of perfume from one of my earlier entries of a SP Appreciation Dinner I attended.)

No, I am still keeping my pair.
But I have extra ones here (that looks exactly the same as mine) to give away to YOU!
(Yes, I'm pointing at you)
ONLY 1 AND LAST PAIR LEFT~

Its called " Romance II"  (Formulated by Singapore Polytechnic students!); and what's sweet about it is that it comes in a pair.
(And they smell different, of course! But they are designed to be a pair.)
So you can keep one for yourself and give the other one to your Valentine!

This is how the packaging look like:
Combine both together and they form a heart shape at the top centre!
Interesting, huh?

Open the packaging to reveal the lovely bottles:

Well.. It's not often that I will get the chance to organize giveaways like these, so you can definitely try your luck at winning it.
Not only that, you can't really find these perfumes just anywhere - so here's your chance to own something really interesting!
(I'm going to make it easy, so no worries!)

To win the lovely pair for you and your sweet Valentine, just simply post
"SWEET VALENTINE @ www.sgcomplainqueen.blogspot.com"
on your Facebook page.

And just do a print screen of it after you are done!
You may either send me the picture link using the Comments box below or safer, e-mail your entries to:
catherinejaevans@hotmail.com
Winners will be selected on a random basis using a randomized generator.
(So its completely fair!)
The giveaway will be handed to you personally via meet-up as they are quite bulky and unsafe to be dealt through post.

I look forward to your entries, and GOOD LUCK!!
I will be closing the giveaway on 31st January 2013, 11:59 hrs.
XoXoXo

(P/S: My apologies but this giveaway is only applicable for readers residing in Singapore only.)

Appreciation Dinner at NYDC

Was invited by the awesome Singapore Polytechnic team from Department of Corporate Communications to an Appreciation Dinner for the bloggers on 28th December 2012.

It was awesome getting the chance to see familiar faces again! (Yes, you know who you are!! :D)

And it was at NYDC (New York Dessert Cafe)- a cafe which I had never been to before. Located at Holland Village, it's a conveniently accessible place now that we have the Circle line! :)
Haha, I am so glad that I am living my life once and had the chance to try it!

Loving all the Christmas decors even though the season was already over.

Look at their special Christmas menu! A pop-up Christmas tree!
*squeals*

A random shot of the other bloggers who were present:

Most of us ordered their set meals - which came together with a bowl of SOUP OF THE DAY , main course, drink and dessert (Did I say Ice-creeeaamm??!)
And not to mention that the friendly staff at NYDC serve their food reaaally fast. They aren't totally like some other restaurants that will torture you by making you wait during your times of hunger. LOL.

Of course, the blogger instinct in me never failed to snap photos of the food at different angles before finally tucking in.
(Lol. I believe this is the IN-trend thing anyway now, right? I am witnessing more and more people - even non-bloggers- taking photos of their food and uploading on to Facebook now!! Aren't you one of them??!)

Here's a close-up shot of the rich chicken soup that tasted oh-so-delicious:

Here's something special about the bowl. Can you see how it is designed?!

A general view of the bowl and soup:
(I am not being lame by taking numerous photos of the same food, okay?! This is called "capturing its final moments before entering my stomach".)

A huge platter that we ordered to share amongst ourselves - Yes, there are cheese nachos too!

Okay, I am not a food blogger by profession so please don't expect "Atas" shots of the food. But I am trying my best already! Haha.

Initially, I thought the few oval-shaped stuff on the left are mini pizzas. They turned out to be delicious potatoes! Interesting, huh? If you are a potato couch , I mean... a potato fan, you will be sure to list it on your Favorite list. :)

General view of the full plate:
*licks my monitor screen*

This is a lemon juice. Not ice or tea. Just lemon juice with an ice ball in it.
(I think there is a name for it but I somehow forgot what its called. Shucks!)

And yes, its lemon juice so of course it tasted sour, lah.
But its sour in a good way.

Look at the ice-ball! It reminded me so much of a snowball that I imagined myself to be in a place of snow while drinking it. Lol.

Here's a photo I took of Ms Yvonne's food - I guess it was Salmon rice set.
Looks appetizing, yes? I believe the portion is just right for people who are fussy about being overweight.
And it looks healthy too - complete with veggies!
Probably I can try this if I get the chance to go back there myself someday :)

That's Andy's meaty spaghetti - I was commenting how much it resembled an ice-kachang cos it was a mountain's worth of portion! LOL.

And ta--daa... Here's mine.
Can you make a guess what my order was?

Okay, not sure if you got that right (there are no prizes for guessing the correct answer anyway, LOL) , but yes - it's Baked Rice - One of my all-time favorites. I always go crazy over baked rice.
Look at those squishy and fresh-looking prawns!

Hot - Freshly baked from the oven and so delicious that you can just imagine yourself sitting on top of the world. Okay, I think I am exaggerating.
But yes - It was really good!

And this was Wei Ming's set. Chicken!
(No, I am not scolding him a chicken. I am saying that this is a dish that consists of chicken!)
GOD.. I just stared at this picture for more than 3 seconds and now I can feel the hunger setting in.. It's a freaking 5am in the morning when I am typing this!
Where can I find food to satisfy my hunger nooooww??!

That's it. I almost ate my monitor screen.
Smoky, tender chicken... .. Urrgh.

And here's my mango Ice-cream. It came in a small cup, but enough to satisfy my craving for dessert. It has a rich mango taste - superb for a mango fan like me.

The friendly peeps from Singapore Polytechnic were so kind and generous! They gave each of us participating bloggers a set of  perfumes - that came in pairs and complete with matching packaging!
(It's perfect for couples because the fragrance is formulated for both genders! The green box is the male version, while the orange box is for the females. Match them together and they form a heart shape! Awww.. How SWEET and genius is that?!)

*touched*

And I MUST show off to everyone here that the lovely perfumes are proudly formulated by Singapore Polytechnic students!

*sheds a tear*

I am so proud to be a SP graduate and owning this gem.

Here's how the bottles look like! Cute, right??!
Romance II!

And I'm ending off this entry on a happy note - with a group photo of us.

(and a small camwhore pic of myself if you don't mind. LOL.)

Bye, Holland V! I'll definitely be back! :)

Here's a thank-you shoutout to everyone who made the dinner meetup awesome. Especially to Ms Yvonne Chan , Mr Frank Chua and not forgetting Mr Andy who had made it possible!

It was certainly a pleasure to catch up after so long , and I do look forward in collaborating with Singapore Polytechnic again for future events! :)
