[Review] Groupon deal: Vellus Hair Studio - GOOD or BAD?

As I'll be flying off to Taiwan pretty soon with the intention to have my hair permed (I have even made a booking with the salon two months before!), I decided to give my hair some nourishment and pampering in Singapore first.

As some of you may or may not realize, I have been a "Groupon deals hunter" lately, so much so that I am starting to be worried as I keep spending money on deals!!! (Heck, I really enjoyed those deals so far, especially those massage/spa ones)

I came across this one day while I was searching for hair treatment deals:

Vellus Hair Studio
Seriously, I have never heard of them before. (I guess Groupon is one of the ways for merchants to gain more awareness about their business?)
As the price was kinda attractive (Only $18 for Boce Hair Treatment + Wash + Blow), I thought I would give it a try.
Furthermore, the venue was located quite conveniently near Tanjong Pagar MRT. Definitely worth checking out!
Not to mention that I have my BFF going with me as well and we'll be trying out their services together! =D

Took a pic of myself before heading there. My hair was in such a terrible state that I had to wear my cap!

Unfortunately, I did not capture any photograph during the journey since I didn't intend to blog about it, but later changed my mind after the hair treatment (You will see why later).

I was taken aback by the salon's interior when I first set my foot in. In all honesty, it is a salon that does not look like a salon AT ALL. I was expecting to see some kind of standard salon chairs neatly lined in a row - but trust me, you will not believe your eyes when you see it for yourself. Unlike most salons, Vellus Hair Studio provides you all the privacy and comfort you'll need. Yes, you heard it right - You will have ONE room all to yourself.

So.. Basically, you can sleep, shake your leg, dig your nose, scratch your armpit for all you need - Nobody is there to watch (... Except the hairstylist, of course. LOL) Sorry, I'm just disgusting this way. Hahaha.

This was the first time I experienced such VIP treatment. Not to mention that Vellus Hair Studio works differently, too.

Instead of just plunging straight into cutting your hair or those standard one-liners, they will give you a briefing about hair scalp and a customized hair analysis of your scalp/hair condition! Using a micro device, you will be able to see a 1000% close-up of your own scalp and hair on a TV screen (which I thought was kinda' disgusting to the extent that I felt I had goosebumps).

It felt weird at the same time knowing that it is YOUR own scalp/hair that the screen is featuring. Seriously, my scalp condition was kinda' horrible as there were jelly-like substances clouding all over my scalp area and oil clogs. Those were so micro that they were not apparent to our naked eyes at all - unless using their micro device which I thought was amazing.

Sorry that I did not take any picture at all during the process (I regretted much!) to show the before/after treatment as I did not expect myself to be blogging about it.

As my Groupon voucher was only for hair treatment, I topped up an additional $74 (It was originally $148 but we could have the 50% discount due to being a first-time customer) to try out their scalp treatment. (Note: I topped up on my own accord. I'm impressed that there was no hard-selling on their side at all)

If you were to ask me, I doubted the effectiveness of the treatment AT FIRST as I have never done scalp treatment before. I was actually convinced by the hairstylist's confidence in making my hair better after the treatment.... and GOSH, she really worked her magic in bringing my badly damaged hair back to life.
I do not have any before/after picture, but I did camwhore abit using my mobile phone during the process.

Here's a random pic of the recommended cranberry tea that was served to us. (Plus point added for having such a service) The tea was nice!

While it was my BFF's turn for her treatment, I camwhored again:

And another using my camera.

Mind you, I am not lying and neither am I affiliated with them in any way - so I earn nothing from advertising for them. I AM PURELY SHARING MY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE because it worked for me, and definitely worth a try if you are looking for a different-than-normal salon.
It may sound unbelievable, but you will be amazed at how different a treatment will make your hair look!

You will even be given the chance to witness the effects of the treatment as the hairstylist will use the micro device to show you the results before and after. No kidding here, but majority of my oil clogs were gone. My scalp looks like a stranger's. LOL. At the same time, you can really FEEL a cleaner and softer scalp after the treatment physically. Just use your hands and reach out for your scalp.

They do have a package for us to consider, but I did not sign up for it as I am starting to feel the pinch in my pockets. It was a real shame as I LOVE their services, and probably I'll return again when they have future promotions. I am not so much of a package-person... So.. Yeah.

But I am thankful to have found this salon through Groupon. I have always hated merchants that resort to hard-selling customers after they have purchased the deals to top up and stuff, but be rest assured that Vellus Hair Studio will not do that. That is one of the factors why I am impressed as well.

The staff were very friendly as well, and they were so kind to lend me their lighting for photo-taking purpose! :)

Here's a sneak peak of my OOTD (and my hair after the treatment) - If you like the dress I am wearing, do keep a lookout for my upcoming advertorial that I'll be doing for the online store! :)
I'll feature more photos soon!

P/S: I received positive comments the next day regarding my hair and how much better it is looking now. It made me a happy girl because I have never expected this!

[Event Invite] Lenovo Multi Mode Product Launch

Was invited to an exclusive Lenovo launch event (Thanks, Julian!) for two of their latest products.
It was a pity that I missed their previous launch, but I still managed to catch a glimpse of the earlier launched products there!

Thanks to my kind BF who accompanied me (He was actually interested in IT gadgets/electronics as well, and was eager to check them out!), both of us took loads of photos back to share with you readers/whoever is reading this out there.

The huge standee that greeted us upon our arrival:

We reached quite early (since it's quite near our workplace), but we still managed to make good use of the time to explore the products on display and snap some photos.

The delicious spread of food before the launch:

Let's do some exploring!

Check out this tablet, the Lenovo A3000, that has such a beautiful interface!

We tried playing around with it..

It might interest you that this Lenovo A3000 tablet will be available during COMEX, priced at $269!

One thing I like about Lenovo products is that they do actually research and see to consumers' needs as a whole. They often come up with innovative ideas, and many of their products appeal to different target audience. Whether or not you are a working/businessman individual or someone who just simply loves entertainment and gaming, you will definitely find a Lenovo product that will suit your needs and requirements.

Here we have Darren from Lenovo introducing us the two latest products that I think are really impressive!

Behold - The Lenovo Flex 14, the world's FIRST multimode maintstream Ultrabook.

So WHAT is so special about it?

Well, it comes in two modes - You can tap on laptop mode for productivity and it will act like a normal laptop, OR flip the product into stand mode for entertainment through internet browsing watching movies and gaming. How convenient, right?!
It's perfect for people like me who like to laze around in bed and watch Youtube videos, especially on a lazy weekend.
Furthermore, it's ultra-slim design and touchscreen interface allow for anywhere, anytime use and is perfect for the on-the-go lifestyle of today's consumer.

I went on to explore the product myself and I love how sleek the design is!
(I love orange color and I am so glad they implemented it on the Flex 14!)

The Lenovo Flex 14 will be available during COMEX, with prices starting from SGD$999.

Here is another Lenovo model that impressed me at the launch - The Lenovo Miix!:

The Lenovo Miix is a 10.1-inch Windows 8 tablet with a PC Processor, perfect for entertainment and on the go.
This would be perfect for long train or plane rides! It comes with a "quick-flip" folio case that is detachable, and an integrated AccuType keyboard.

It is one that instantly switches between PC mode and tablet mode to quickly adapt to user's needs.
And the interchangeable mode only takes seconds!
Speaking of convenience at your fingertips eh!

In fact, I love it so much that I felt the need to pose with it. LOL.

And guess what?
IT ONLY WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 0.5 kilograms and measuring at just 10mm thin!
No more bulky or heavy-weight tablets.
I love everything about the Lenovo Miix. (Except for the fact that I am unfamiliar with Windows 8)

Do check it out if you have a chance  - the official release date has not been announced yet, but it will be soon! As far as I know, it will be priced at $799 - a fairly good deal as it is just like a 2-in-1 gadget!

Ok, let's move on to the next Lenovo product - one that is not really portable but is sure to bring you hours of family fun and entertainment!

I was having so much fun with this at the launch - It reminds me so much of the arcade games, except that you can play it at the comfort of your own home!

Introducing you the..
Lenovo Horizon!

Look at how engrossed they are (Haha):

It looks like a plasma TV.

And here is something cute about it:
It comes with these little tools, such as a USB integrated dice that you can use it to play the electronic version of Monopoly! How cool is that?!

And you can even watch Youtube videos, share file content with friends, etc.. All on a huge screen.

It comes with the detachable table that holds it, and you can even move it around the house! After having a small chat with Darren, he told us that this handy tool can last up to approximately 2 hours without connecting it to the power cable.

Ah, I have gained so much insight at the event.
Special thanks to Julian for the invite, and my dear BF for the assistance in taking such awesome photos!
I look forward to attending more of these in future, especially when it comes to IT products! (Yeah, I am working in the IT line... so I guess I have this geeky side of me. HAHA)

If you have missed out on my earlier entry of the previous Lenovo event I attended, here it is. You will be able to read and know more about their other products!!:

[ Product Review] 2B Alternative - Mask for Face

Was invited by 2B Alternative a few weeks back for a one month product trial of their facial slimming masks.
*gives an excited little squeal*

Well... I have always been obsessed with slimming my face (I had tried a few products but they didn't really work), so it was definitely a great opportunity to try out the 2B masks!

And here I am, to share my current results with you:
(I am sure there are some of you who may stumble upon my blog while searching for reviews on facial masks... So do stay tuned and read on if you want to find out if 2B works for me!)

Well... Here's a short introduction about the face slimming mask, in case you've never heard of it:
(Well.. Now you do!)

2B Mask for Face is a breath taking gift from 2B Alternative that is dedicated to all users of 2B for Face slimming essence. After applying the essence with daily usage, you only need to apply the mask once per week for facial corrective and reshape to satisfying effects. Because the mask has the unique 3D lock design that triple locks all slimming target point to the face, which activates these key facial points with fully absorption. Lifting effects are immediate, so facial contour is visibly firmer and tighter every point by point, every inch by inch.

I am still in the midst of using the masks, so I can only show you the preview before the full one-month trial.

Now let's put this to test!

*unpacking the box*
Yes, there are 4 pieces in a box.

Slowly but carefully, I opened up a packet of the mask...
And here it is! The little precious settling inside while waiting for me to put it on my face. ;)

The wet and soft mask - It is completely soaked in the essence!

Boo! Scary much?
Yeah, this is probably one of the first few times I am uploading a photo of myself with absolutely no make-up on. (I would usually feel insecure when uploading such pictures... But well, I just have to be dedicated when doing this review! So you guys better be nice and not post hateful comments geddit?!)

One thing I love about the mask is that it contains two “hooks” that secure its position. I have used other masks that always shifted its position when I moved, and it was really frustrating sometimes. But the implementation of hooks by 2B is simply genius! The mask felt secured and tight on my face.

I am currently still in the process of using it twice-thrice a week, and I simply love the results. Even though the results are considered subtle, but it is definitely a good start because I believe consistent usage of the product in the long run can indeed achieve the successful slimmed face I’ve always desire. I will update the results again soon as I am almost finishing the pack!

A photo of my face BEFORE putting the 2B mask on:

And 15 minutes later....
*takes out the mask*

Ta-daaahh!

 Can't see the comparison clearly?
Let me place them side by side~

(Left: BEFORE ; Right: AFTER)

I am an absolute Photoshop noob when it comes to photoshopping faces, so all photos have definitely remained unedited.

Yes, the current verdict is that I am enjoying the 2B Mask for Face at the time being!
It's really worth a try if you are looking at face slimming/contouring solutions.
Do stay tuned for more updates coming up!~
